I could listen to her all day. She could tell a story as well as she picked the banjo. Rest in peace Roni💚

Love the Edison at the end of the clip - that is the way I first heard recorded music on my fathers Edison phonograph. This clip is priceless. Thank you.

Thankyou for taking the time to record this interview Christopher. I really love them and love the wisdom of these seasoned musicians who have done the miles. Roni shares a lot a wisdom. "The audience is number one - you are there for them.- Play for every audience as if they are in the Ryman or somewhere special no matter where you are."

The story at 7:50 made me sad for them. They needed the money and Bill Monroe blocked them from the tour. That’s sad. This interview was so wonderful. Thank you for posting it. You preserved some wonderful history here. And Roni was a doll.

Heaven rest her; a real lady, a fine picker, and a great entertainer. I live in Bethesda. MD where the Stonemans played that debutante ball she talks about. I'd love to know what the venue was!

I grew up listening to Ernest v Stoneman and his Dixie mountaineers which I guess later became pop stoneman and all his kids forming different groups kind of interesting how they went from rags to riches back to rags

Bill Monroe tried way too hard to make bluegrass a serious art form and his method zapped all the fun out of old time music even though I do understand not wanting to be considered hillbilly all those old time performers had particular feelings about being called that and they weren't all good anyways awesome interview I'm glad I stumbled across this

We were just kinda flowing there and it wasn’t in my question list. I was basically happy to enjoy her holding court. 🙂
