I went to the falling in reverse / papa roach concert a couple months ago when they were doing their rockzilla tour. The lead singer of papa roach actually got very real between songs, talking about depression, how good it is to be alive, and dedicating songs to people going through hard times. There's a ton of emotion and energy when they're on stage, that gets lost with the aggressive style recording of this song. So after touring with them, I can see why Ronnie would get inspired and think of doing the song this way.

@@niklassrk Exactly! Papa Roach gave us the aggressive teenage cry for help. The feeling of desperately wanting someone to notice just how much you're hurting and not knowing who or where to turn. Falling In Reverse gave us the adult resignation of knowing where and who to turn to, but being too afraid (having gone on for so long with this feeling) to turn to anyone. Feeling trapped with these feelings of depression and anxiety, wanting to fall apart and get help, but telling yourself to put yourself back together (as you can see in the video with the buildings falling apart then reversing at the end) just to go through it all again the next day.

The greatest thing about music is that it's open to interpretation no matter what and everyone can interpret the same lyrics differently. In this case, the same song delivered differently can mean 2 completely different things. This song was written to convey a cry for help. Papa Roach performed it in a way that conveyed they were angry with their lives and didn't want it anymore. Radke delivers it as a beaten human to is desperate for a reason to live. Music is the only language that is universally understood no matter where you live or who you are.

I think we are witnessing a new form of music right now, you see artist like Ren, Ronnie and NF, even Eminem making these inner battle songs. They take the depression, anger, fear and then towards the end turn it into hope, pride and power! It's a wonderful mix and I am fuhking here for it. Obviously these hit hard for many people, myself included. When I was watching the crumbling of the buildings, the symbolism is powerful. It's like when my world felt like it was crumbling then it stopped and you you rebuild it! It's just powerful, the aggressive power is the key. No longer do I feel as depressed, I feel more fuhking angry, at myself mainly for allowing this to progress and beat me down for so long. Anyways great reaction Knox, love your channel!

A few things. First, Knox, my man, the first video of yours I saw was your break down of Popular Monster and I loved your examination of that song. Love your work, man. Second, I've found with Falling in Reverse when I hear the song first I get one thing from it, but then when I see the video I always find much greater depth and more layers than I had imagined existed in each and every song. Third I saw someone say this in a post on another reaction video to this song: Papa Roach: We were teenagers angry at the world. Ronnie Radke: We're broken adults ground down by the world. I've been listening to this song for a bit, love both versions but yes, the roach's version is very much angry and angsty. Ronnie's version is desperate, driven to the edge, teetering over the abyss. But something with the video, to me the way everything rebuilds at the end with 'wish somebody would tell me I'm fine' and even though he's still saying nothing is fine the rebuilding, the repairing seems to offer this sense of hope, this little glimmer of light in the darkness. Maybe that's just me, but the video gives me a much more hopeful feeling than just listening to the song on its own. HAHA i just heard you say the same thing about hope and rising up as I was typing this comment.

I now know the times that we live in and knowing that I am saved by His Grace. We are close to being with Him in Heaven, but not before we (The Whole World) go through the great tribulation. And I continue daily for God to renew my mind and spirit, to have decernment of the times. Anyways, as always, Take Care & God Bless.

I’ve seen multiple comments where people say the original version was full of angst, anger that we felt when we were younger and starting to feel that pain. Ronnie’s version is desperation we feel now going through it for so long.

3:40 I thought the same exact thing I remember rocking to this like an anthem when the original was released. I clearly wasn't paying attention to the verses at all in the original song. It's pretty stunning.

I've always wondered why this materpiece of a Song never got a real good cover, but there is this musical genius Ronnie. Love him since the early escape the fate songs, he never took himself serious. One kind of a person Thx for this awesome reaction knox

Someone commented on Papa's TikTok duet of this saying that Papa's version is the teenage rage, and FIR version is the broken adult. It's so fitting. I love both versions.

It's crazy how no one has caught this. When the buildings are being replaced, they're not falling but they're "Falling in Reverse".
