I´m glad, that even a metal icon as Dio consider Scorpions Heavy Metal, many people still think that "The Scorps" are Hard Rock because they make many Hard Rock ballads, but if you know some about metal, you know the most of their stuff is HM, the early stuff like "In Trance", "Lovedrive", "Taken by Force" or "Blackout" are Heavy Metal masterpieces....

It includes one studio track, written by Ronnie and Craig, called Time to Burn. It was released in the middle of the Sacred Heart tour. Horns up, brother!

Thanks for that. I didn't see it way back then. I guess VCR's weren't around in Oz when Purple Mk IV were on Sound Unlimited. As I recall, Donnie interviewed Ian Paice. One thing I do remember of that show was the Blackmore image from the back cover of Made In Japan as they went to and returned from each ad break, despite Ritchie no longer being part of the band. That would be a great one to see again! I was 13 at the time and excited that Purple were in town (didn't see them though).

@HelloweenAndi Yeah, he was a true gentleman to us fans. \m/ I'll tell you something else interesting that you won't see in this interview coz it happened off air during an ad break. When Donnie played Love Is All, Dio seemed completely fascinated by it. When Donnie asked why, Dio said he'd never had the opportunity to see the film clip before. Gives you some idea of how busy the life of a full-time rocker must be. ;-)
@neckshredder113 жыл бұрын
@eyelessal Haha, no worries mate. Even though it was Craig Goldy on guitar at the concert instead of Vivian Campbell (that upset me a bit), we still experienced the awesome power of Dio belting out his best songs.
@crusheverything44495 жыл бұрын
neckshredder1 - Yeah, I saw Dio in ‘84 with Viv and ‘86 with Goldy and Vivian just had a fire that Goldy couldn’t match. Craig eventually became a great player, though, as evidenced on Master of the Moon, the best Dio album that’s not called Holy Diver or Last In Line, IMO.

It is extremely rare to have a "Band" without a guitar player that is a complete narcissistic ass ! When it comes down to it , SINGERS like RJD (humble,, down to earth) are unique. Guitar players are a dime a dozen... Viv was a narcissist.... stranded on an island , I'll take DIO's voice over any instruments !! IT'S HIS VOICE AND WRITING TALENT that made the best music of all time ! Created his own genre of music..... there is very little to compare to. Most "Heavy metal" bands lack DIO's natural talent.
