When most people think of the Small Faces, they think of Steve Marriott. When they think of The Faces, they think of Rod Stewart. In reality, Ronnie Lane was the heart and soul of both bands. This music proves that to be true.

Ronnie Lane was so special. When he was with Steve and then Rod and Ronnie, it was such great music. I've been a fan of Ronnie's since coming home from Vietnam in Nov of '70 and buying my first Faces album. I now live in Pueblo, Colorado. Just 85 miles south of here, southbound on Interstate 25, you will find Trinidad, Colorado. That's where Ronnie passed away back in '97. Every time I travel thru that small town I think of Ronnie and of how much many of us still miss him..........

Magic. A very rare and very special video. I'll never forget listening to' Ogdens' for the first time. It was the first album that really shook me and Ronnie was the life and soul of every band he was ever in. A true genius.

Ronnie Lane and Steve Marriot were magical together; just pure synergy. Ronnie passed away in '97 at the age of 51 while living down in Trinidad, Colorado.

I couldn't agree more. Listening to Small Faces records as a teenager was a life changing experience for me. I didn't know music could be so good. I think he's one of the best songwriters and bass players ever.

How brilliant, I was lucky enough to see Ronnie and the Band a few times, and had the albums. The best thing about seeing all these vids, is that the band always seem to be enjoying themselves. Greatly respected, and sadly missed - Ronnie's music is timeless.

That´s wonderful - so is the whole of the album "One for the road" which never was rereleased on CD. So many beautiful songs on that one. Also there seems to be no DVD of Ronnie. Hard to believe but his mobile studio still exists and is owned my Mark St. John (Pretty Things). I was in this last year.

In almost every R.L. video on here his band seems very meloncholy, like they expect to fail. But then he did call them Slim Chance. There are exceptions of course. Great soulful music nonetheless. Too good for radio maybe?

Worth noting, Mac McCaughn (Merge records co-founder, Superchunk front man and co-founder) did a great cover of this tune with his "side band", Portastatic, back in 2003. Not saying it's better than the original, but it's a really good cover, and cosidering that the original is pretty obscure, it's great to see someone of Mac's stature (at least in underground rock circles) covering it. I'll admit it, I didn't know of this song until I heard the cover. kzbin.info/www/bejne/an_Nq5iGodmHasU
