G'day Ronny, really dig the 'Education' vids, especially with Heiner who is a gun at what he does but explains it in such a way the average person can fully understand. Will definitely check his channel out. Cheers guys

Interested in more info regarding the lab power. I had Heiner's team install the customised National Luna Redarc box in my 4WD but I haven't got a solar panel on the roof just yet. Would love the option of having a "Solar Simulator" in the garage. :D

As a W463 owner I agree, though part of me want's a Pinzgauer. Now I know you have people in Australia using both these vehicles so please get them on an episode of Modified.

I really like how Heiner is bringing expert knowledge and putting it in a way regular guys can understand, also raising awareness of lithium! It is expensive to set up but that is literally the only down side.
@stevehomer36762 жыл бұрын
Over here in Europe Lithium choice is no so clear. Under zero Celsius they don't charge and over 40C the smart system cuts out. So in winter after your diesel heater ate the amps you can't charge it and in summer the beer fridge ate the amps but the battery is also looking for a cooler spot.

Great topic and information. I've got a 110w Queens panel on my roof, flat. It runs my 30L Drawer fridge 24/7 and runs LED strip's and charges cameras & phones at camp. If I run the 12v TV it drains pretty quick but still with a 140ah AGM I don't normally drop below 75%. Over cast days I do have a small 2.5ah 240v charger that I connect if we are getting a few miserable days. I do need to get a decent blanket for camping though.

It's truly a down under episode when you here that panels have to face North 🤠

Great video. Thanks. One question that I have is how to connect a fixed and portable panel. Do you need two controllers? Can you connect them in parallel? Serial? Do they need to be matching?

Brilliantly done guys my one question is how do I get power from my roof to a battery in the back (100 series) 👍

Thanks Ronni and Heiner, just a question with mounting a solar panel, do I install a fuse near the panel before the run down into the cab to the Dc-dc?

Great video as always. I would like to know if its recommended to connect to different solar panels to the same solar charger even if they have almost the same voltage and current? When yes, better in series- or parallel circuit? I've ha fix mounted panel an a flexible one but only one MPPT charger that could handle the power (watts) of both panels. I usually run the fix panel and when i stay longer use the flexible one while disconnect the fix one and connect the flex one. Would just be easier to leave both cables on the charger and only plug the flex one in when needed, wich would give me also bit more power. Thank you

I wish everyone would just talk in amp hours. We know we get 100amp hours in our battery (100 ah batt) and our fridge draws say 4 amps at peak. We know that there's say 25 hours of that fridge at peak power use from a 100ah batt. Of course discharge limits etc come into it etc but that's the basic idea. Now, how many amps are going into my batt when driving. Using a redarc 25 amp charger you know you'll take say 4 hours to charge your batt off your car. Too often retailers will tell you the watts in a panel etc bur watts means nothing to most of us. We just want power when camping. I don't know each chemical or process used to water proof our swags. We just want to to work and know they're water proof. If the industry could stick to one easy way to understand the energy input and output life would be so much simpler when trying to choose the componants for ones set up. Haha hope that made sense? Informative video btw. I bought my set up from hiener online. I trust his knowledge and like his easy nature. Shipped to nsw in no time and well packed n put together. When ignorance is your reality on a specialised topic, trust in the seller is paramount.

Lol watts divided by v = amps

@@krump743 lol nothing. An equation complicates something that could be simplified for the joe average consumer. When I do a landscape quote I don't expect my client to have worked out thier exact areas and volumes when suggesting to me what they'd like. When I look at bullbars I don't need to use maths to choose the suitability of one. When you buy a cb you don't need to understand frequencies. Just how to choose a channel. Bla bla bla.
@krump7432 жыл бұрын
@@sloth_e I don't see what's hard about that. I wanna buy a toaster. I look at the specs online before buying and use simple maths to see if It's suited for my set up.

i have a Redarc BCDC1220 and now have a engel 90w solar blanket with a crap MPPT regulator. Would it be worth upgrading the regulator to a victron or upgrade the Redarc to the 1240D?
