I was flying when I was bodyguard one time- had to fly regularly-- and two ladies sat next to me all nervous and wanted to know what I thought of flying.. One says " aren't you afraid to fly so much?" I said-"not at all afraid of flying-- but that crashing scares the poo out of me!"... we were flying along outside LA on the way in and hit some turbulence-- the plane bounced a bit and they screamed and asked me what that was--- I told them " it's a speed bump- keeps the pilots from flying too fast".. they said " oh-- and calmed down- for about 5 seconds til they realized what I'd said.. ha.... But tell those folks that's a SPARE axle just in case!! ha.

Praise Mr Ron for having patience...it's hard to get the job done when the "obstacle " has 2 legs and keeps getting in the way...happens at work all the time when people want to "see: what you're doing not realizing their making the job a little more difficult...another job well done by Mr Ron and his team!!!

Ron needs at least 3 to 4 eyes on this recovery. 2 watching the work he is doing and 1 or 2 just on the traffic. This is a perfect situation for their Traffic control truck, I personally believe the Missouri state Police should be notified of the status but I don't know the protocol. God bless you Ron and may he be watching out for you 🙏

thank you. I'm a "little surprised" he didn't ask for traffic support. But the man knows what he's doing and is respected by all those who work with/around him, so he wins my respect too. But surely, I wish he'd had an officer to shut down that outside lane.

The problem with that is they can take forever to respond since it's a non emergency. In the meantime, you are losing money sitting there on the side of the road. It's very dangerous, but you get used to it. That's the reason for the slow down move over laws, because on average there's a wrecker driver killed every 6 days in the United States alone.
@cyberprog
@cyberprog 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, here in the UK they wouldn't dream of doing anything like this on the motorway without a lane closure - you'd get the whole lane on the outside coned off with a HATO vehicle blocking in Lane 1 before you started.
@RonPratt
@RonPratt 2 жыл бұрын
@@cyberprog I wish they would do that here. There is a different philosophy here: Keep traffic flowing unless absolutely necessary to stop it. It make my work more dangerous and more challenging at times, but I've learned to deal with it. Thanks for watching and God bless.

One of the driver's first responsibilities after a breakdown is to set up safety/traffic cones at appropriate distances.

Within 10 minutes of stopping is the dot reg for setting out all your safety devices. I've seen guys pulled over and dot will pull up behind them and wait 10 min before approaching and if it's not out they get a ticket. (Edit I don't drive otr anymore but I do roadside service on semi's and heavy equipment now, I still have my cdl though since my company truck is gvwr over 26k)

@@alexhart4369 Not only within 10 mins, but at the proper distances, 10ft, 100ft and 200ft on a divided highway i.e. interstate. Most that do put them out are like 10, 20, 30 at best.

It's insane how selfish and bad people are in general. I really hate these drivers that think they are more important then everyone else. Undertaking riding bumpers trying to go around you dangerously and illegally because your not going fast enough for them. Then while your working right next to fast moving vehicles they don't care either. Be safe out there all our workers on the roads. We do thank you for your hard work doing such a dangerous job.

In Oregon, there would have been a Department of Transpiration truck and driver already there, with it's traffic warning lights well behind the disabled semi. Those department staff and vehicle assistant trucks are an excellent of how taxes can be spent wisely and where actually needed.

Georgia DOT has HERO and CHAMP to do the same thing, and the entire lane would have been coned off and closed, no such thing as a partial lane closure.

The UK also has the Highways Agency traffic officer trucks which are absolute lifesavers. Where directing traffic and dealing with the motorway is concerned they are who you want to turn up, they also deal with collisions instead of the police where there are no significant injuries and no suspicion of a crime

I got whiplash from all that head turning. :) In BC tow truck drivers still have to be very cautious on the roads because no one follows the move over law and adding in a lot of curvy roads it is a nightmare. Keep safe and have a great week.

That is nice having a camera and remote that works well. What little heavy work I’ve done had no remote or camera. (Driver side under lift controls only). Tried using a camera for a yard move at the company and couldn’t see dang thing. Love the videos and trying to learn tricks that I haven’t seen here.
