Hello Ladies & Gentlemen and as always, thank you for watching. Today, it's "all hands on deck" for this job!!! A heavy haul truck with an RGN trailer blew a steer tire and got extremely tangled in the barrier cables. The cables did their job and kept the truck and trailer from crossing over into oncoming traffic. At the same time, the cables did a lot of damage to the truck. I don't recall ever having the barrier cables this wound up in a truck before. Thankfully, the driver was not injured. I wish I could say the same for the Peterbilt truck he was driving. Our Peterbilt 389-X with a Miller Industries, Century 1150R towing and recovery unit along with our team of personnel and other equipment make fairly quick work of what could have been a difficult task. I hope you all enjoy this video!!! Thanks for watching and God bless!!!

Agreed. I wish it was that way in more states, AFAIK Ron's state is the only one that allows towing and recovery to run code in certain situations. If not the only state one of very few.

Those cables are a pain but they're also life savers. I'm a lot older than you and several times we've rolled upon a "Crossover" accident where a vehicle on the opposite side got hit head-on and the people inside were killed. I am grateful someone invented the cable guards.

Against vehicles, I'd agree. But, if a motorcyclist hits one of those cables, he/she stands a good chance of getting sliced in half. I hope people think about that when they force us off the road.

In the province of Québec, cables like theses are really rare. Most highways have a ditch that is deep enough that there's absolutely no way that you are climbing back out of it on the other side. The ones that don't typically have a concrete median, or steel guards.

Right off the bat..."Running code is a huge responsibility..." Yes it is! As I learned in first responder training... You never want to create a secondary accident while responding to the first. Know your routes. If it takes you through school zones, etc... pick an alt route if at all possible. Second, I love the teamwork. Your crew has your back just as you have theirs. Much love and God bless. And thank you for your service, hard work, and dedication 💜

Thanks Ron for keeping the highways clear and open for traffic. Honestly it would be nice if they'd do away with those cables and put in a REAL concrete divider.
@jaquigreenlees
@jaquigreenlees Жыл бұрын
The concrete dividers are less effective at stopping vehicles from crossing over to the oncoming lanes and cause even more damage to the vehicles.
@Simon-ho6ly
@Simon-ho6ly Жыл бұрын
thing is those concrete dividers can be a bigger hazard as they can stop a vehicle dead and cause bigger injuries to the occupants
@tractorsold1
@tractorsold1 Жыл бұрын
Vehicles can bounce off concrete dividers and back into traffic, making things much worse. Cables and steel rail give and tend to catch the vehicle.
@MrTLinSTL
@MrTLinSTL Жыл бұрын
I agree, but it's all about money. The cable barriers cost about 20-30% what concrete dividers cost. They took Missouri's interstate cross over fatality rate from over 20 people per year to about 1. Missouri department of transportation uses a $4.5 million value per life. So for the possibility of saving 1 life per year, they'll likely never get replaced with concrete.
