Thanks for useful tip, I noticed this error 006 after a recent spin. I looked at the battery connection sockets - no sign of melting, but the inner surface was duller on the negative socket. I used a cotton bud mounted in my power drill to internally buff the socket surface. You will need to remove some cotton to get it to insert into the socket which is 3mm diameter, and the problem seems to be fixed, you can do it by hand if you dont have a power drill.

Very helpful Ron….Looks like this is a major problem if everyone else is suffering from this stupid design!!!! How can such a small connector be trusted to push so much power through it???? Shengmilo should be accountable for this!!! 🤬🤬🤬🤬😡👎👎

It’s really the battery company that’s at fault and this issue affects a lot of the American branded fat bikes too. You can prevent this happening by avoiding heavy use of the throttle and if you remove the rubber washer on the frame connector which will give a better connection as the battery contacts push further into the frame connector. Also there are now heavier duty connectors available which should minimise the issue and Shengmilo will supply under warranty but you have to fit yourself.

I have owned my MX03 for 30 days & have covered 150 miles & it is now knackered. The discharge port on the battery is burnt out. I have contacted Shengmilo & they are sending me a new battery connector which I have to fit myself. If this happens again I will be claiming my money back as I expect a bike to be able to cover more than 150 miles before breaking down. I have to wait 7-14 days for delivery which is a pain as I use the bike to commute to work.

Since my previous message. Shengmilo have messaged to say that the replacement terminals they are sending are upgraded ones that are 6 pin & not 2 like the ones that burned out. I guess they were aware of the problem & have taken action. Fingers crossed for when the parts arrive. I love the bike apart from this 🤞

@@simonbird1973 so you have a battery with 6 pins? I dont inderstand what part you have changed, my bike should be getting here this week, what should I look for?

I own the MX03 too and this is happening to the battery, melting at the pin, I am contacting Shengmilo about the problem. I hope I get it worked out...

We’re you using it just on throttle as my repaired connection has melted again when I was trying to run the battery down by just using the throttle before going on holiday! Let us know how you get on with Shengmilo and what they say? Also have you seen this on the ‘Reention Dorado’ battery, so it’s obviously been an issue on many e-bikes that use this type of connection such as ‘Juiced Bikes’, see hilleater.ca/blog/repairing-a-bad-connector-on-the-reention-dorado-downtube-battery/?fbclid=IwAR1zJCG81oWmz5Tr4HnO2kISJmdsqrcDd_cvkuKvNVMvTJNNvYELOzWaJOs&fs=e&s=cl BTW there’s a Facebook forum on the MX03 so any issues can get highlighted there.

@@RonWalkerCairngormGuides Hi, Ron. Thank you for the reply. Yes it seems like the connector melts when using the throttle with full power level 5 from my opinion. I was giving it all I got and it was pretty hot weather on that day (28°C). From Shengmilo WhatsApp customer service I got some feedback ( I can paste them here. Note I had a problem with the seat too because it had a Y6 wrench and they will be sending it to me too with no cost.) They sent me this:- Hello, I received your question. The first problem is that the seat screws aren't tight enough, and you need a Y6 wrench to tighten them. The MX03 battery's discharge port is broken, which is the second problem. These are both small problems, so I'll send you the Y6 wrench and the MX03 discharge port. Does only one MX03 e-bike have these two problems? Do these problems also exist in your other e-bike? ( I own 2 MX03's) Then I was asking them if there is a way how to prevent the melting so it does not happen again. So they sent this. :- The welding tool for the MX03 discharge port needs to be handled by a professional electric vehicle repair shop. Then I said :- This is a new product. It is still under warranty. Is there a need of new battery? What is causing the problem in the first place? Then they said:- This has nothing to do with the battery. Mainly due to poor contact, causing heat and then melting. Then I said:- Ok so the new part will make this better? Then they said:- If you don't want to break the discharge port again, reduce the number of times the battery is removed and try to let it charge on the frame. After that I just said :- OK let's see What I did was sand the melted plastic with a sander and made it smooth again. The bike is working fine, but I am taking it easy on the power I use, especially on these hot days. I am using Pass level 3 Max and minimizing my throttle usage. They are a bit funny with there reply's in my opinion, but they try what they can to help out. When there is some things that I would need they send them. From all that said though, if I would have some big repairs, it seems like I have to deal with them myself.

@RonWalkerCairngormGuides2 жыл бұрын
So far the warranty has been really good for parts and provides feedback to the factory on Scottish and Northern European usage but having no UK dealership you do need to be reasonable at DIY or know someone that is! BTW you were right the handlebars are bit on the narrow side and I might look at getting larger rotors for the long descents we have here plus lower crank wheel ratio for the steep climbs any recommendations for cheap but decent quality? Also I came across a company called Airbike that sell reasonably priced air shocks for fat bikes. Do you think an air shock on the front and rear would make much difference to the ride for someone like me? See airbike.uk/collections/fat-bike-forks/products/fat-tire-fork-mountain-bike-suspension-26-inch-air-bike-black-tyre plus the air forks are only £130 which is a lot less than the big names!
@TWOWHEELFIX2 жыл бұрын
@@RonWalkerCairngormGuides I would say on your bike an airfork would be good on the front ran at low pressure but I think on the back would be overkill but again it would give a more comfortable ride. I look forward to seeing the modifications if you decide to do them. 👍
