This has been quite the project! ☺ I've enjoyed watching this so much mostly because of how you've masterfully positioned the Twitch camera for us live, then explaining to us in these long videos what was happening in each phase and to top that off, the inclusion of all the fun that we got to be a part of!! I will miss these guys a lot when they finish and hope they will be able to come back to help you again in the future. With that said, I also look forward to your adding the finishing touches! Well done, Nate and thank you! ❤

@WaveluthАй бұрын
Nate as I’ve said in the past. I am a retired architect/builder. If that were my garage I would most definitely install some collar ties. Some 48” ties will only leave a 25” flat spot so you would still be a cathedral ceiling. You could also pop a scissor web over the roof rafters. You could get away with 2x4’s It looks great!! 👍👍✌️🇺🇸😎

Unrelated question: do you eat chicks that die? If a mink bleeds out young poultry, is it like Dinosaur Veal?
@SparkeycarpАй бұрын
I was a framer and a G.C. for thirty years before I became an electrician. I listen to and read what architects and engineers lay down. Do the collar ties. You will sleep better over the years with heavy winds. Love watching your channel. I spent a lot of time with my grandfather in my youth doing similar things and learning ranch stuff. Wish I could do the homestead thing, but I doubt I could get my city wife to enjoy it. It would be like the old TV show Green Acres.
@WaveluthАй бұрын
@ 🤣oh man that brings back some real good memories!” Green Acres” was a great show. Mr. Haney???🤣🤣 Thank you Sparky that made my day!! And thanks for agreeing about the collar ties. Without them a tornado/tropical storm would give the roof frame as it is a real hard time. With the proper collar tie setup it can make the difference between having a complete roof after a storm or a section of roof. Thanks again !! Nate is doing what I’d love to do but my spoiled wife of 47 years would not🤣🤣🤣🤣 ✌️👍🇺🇸😎

I believe with that underlayment you wont need an airspace ventilation as long as you completely fill the ceiling with insulation. R38 is perfect, you'll be satisfied after you rock it with a vapor barrier. Im starting to get jealous, LOL.

3' or 4' collar ties, every other set of rafters, wouldn't be bad. Besides helping the joint at the ridge, it would also be a little easier to install sheetrock or panels, if that's your plan.

That foam is absolutely going to help, one of our rental properties has a metal roof for the back porch and in the summer it gets so hot it’s radiating so much heat it feels like you are out in the sun. We have another property where an old garage we are using as storage was reroofed with metal. All we did was take off the old shingles put on2x4s flat going sideways and then metal on top, and it is so much cooler in there because the old sheathing is still there from the old roof, and that alone blocks the radiant heat from the metal roof so much that it is often colder inside the storage than outside, even without any sort of cooling.
@paulrivers7248Ай бұрын
I agree it definitely helps insulate but I miss the sound of the rain on mine when I wanna take a nap on my swing in my glassed in back porch lol I can still hear it but not like I could if it didn't hv the foam lol
