I had my doubts the plastic template was going to work. But you’ve done a great job at getting it all to fit nice. Well done Cheers

Wow. I could see the cut off disc disappear as you were making the cut. I guess it is still less expensive than buying the nipper tool. But what a pain in the efficiency.

Looks good thanks for the explanation on how I couldn’t think of anything you did wrong and you probably did it way better then I would do..although there is this just this one thing that may help or not but check it out from what I understand you can only buy it at Lowe’s it’s this white sealant stuff it’s real good for leaks and sun reflecting if I think of the name I’ll put it up there

Thank you! Is it dicor that you are thinking about? Typically it is used on rv roofs?

I'm curious, why did you decide to weld rather than riveting the top seam? Generally rivets are used so you can have a good overlap and use something like butyl tape for a good bond/seal. And you wouldn't have to do a lot of bondo work. Regardless, good work and in general has a good shape.
@Freedom253 жыл бұрын
Great question! I was originally going to use rivets and butyl tape but realized that the bend that i would need to make in order to get a nice finish on top would have been extremely difficult with 18g steel and my limited knowledge working with metal.

Never use silicone sealers. Use polyurathane sealers. I found out that polyurathane driveway sealers work best. I use the self leveling type to seal around roof vents. Spread it with a inexpensive paint brush. The non sag type is excellent for regular cauiking type jobs. It stays plyable and sticks to clean surfaces permanetly.

Hey how did you run your power cord to your welder to make it go that far
@Freedom253 жыл бұрын
I had the welder plugged into a heavy duty extension cord from my shop. And to get the wand up to the roof i had to lift the welder into the bus and then up onto some saw horses and stick the wand out the side window. It just reached the very top of the transition!

Some busses have a saftey cut off so they won't start if the emergency hatches and doors are not closed. I'd start there.

What is the gauge of the sheet metal you used? My bus has alot more rounded edges and I'm in need of figuring out how to get the curves decently close. Most of the bus was done in 18 gauge.
