Had a roof top tent for about 7 years - never removed the soft cover - just tucked under the tent between tent and roof. But hey - still like the idea of not having to fight with it in the cold when it doesn't want to just drop back over happily for packing up ;)

Great video Andrew. Beautiful views of the canyon. I spent 6 months living in a tent while travelling overland back in 2010. Having a good quality tent is SO important. Buy cheap, buy twice!! The iKamper looks so handy. Hopefully in a follow up video, you can test to see how it feels on a hot summer’s day. Is it too hot/stuffy?? P.S. Love the new truck... but what happened to your beloved Jeep 🚙??

Nice video. The telescopic ladder will be a weak link. When they get water in them that freezes, it makes them inoperable. I use one for work and deal with this issue in the winter.

Loved this video!!! My wife & I retired and drove around the USA & parts of Canada. Had a Toyota minivan which we had 2 suitcases each and camping gear in a roof top carrier. As we hit various national parks in the west we kept seeing “Jucy “minivans with roof top tents Jucy is a company in CA that outfits minivans for camping (2 in the rooftop tent & 2 in the van). They looked like a great way to see the west !! Always thought those roof top tents would work great on our next trip. We had the tent setup down to 20 minutes for a 4 man. But the breakdown was always a pain

Wow, this is one of the best tent reviews out there! I have ordered the tent and cant wait. But you missed one thing i think should have been in this review, and that is showing a close procedure of how to fully close it.. Oh and by the way. Ikamper is korean made, so quality should be one of the best out there. Koreans are perfectionists and extremely engaged in quality..

Close procedure is reverse of opening it, and yes South Korea puts out some AMAZING PRODUCTS!

GY6outdoors I agree. But it dont show if its easy/hard to close it. How the zippers are, how much room under when its closed, where the ladder is stored etc.. Dont get me wrong, as said, its one of the best tent reviews out there.! Cant wait til the next video..:)

There are quite a few options out there, only a few that will get close to this quality though. I also enjoy CVT's as well...they make a quality product.

Great review. Annex video please. Now a question-- do you know of a good light utility trailer that might be used to mount the tent on instead of the vehicle? Three reasons: 1- so I don't have to take it on and off the vehicle all the time for occasional trips. 2 - lets me set up camp, but then take off with the vehicle for fishing or exploring. 3- extra storage.

Just an FYI, when your foam starts to get weak, hit it with a steamer. It'll expand it back out to size and give you a few more miles out of it before having to replace it.

Great video! I like them but I just use Clam ice fishing tent and cots. I can use a little buddy heater in it with the windows open. You can put three cots in it. Pops in 1 min max with a pee break. Lol

G'day Andrew from OZ, @ 104Ibs or 47 kgs, is it the lightest of RTTs ? I've hired Kings RTTs b4 and obviously found them to be too heavy to be taking on and off my vehicle. I'm now looking for a RTT to buy but I don't have a garage and therefore have to store the ikamper in my house. Great review by the way and have just become a subbie. 👍🏽

Yes you can keep a few small pillows and sheets on the mattress along with some thin sleeping bags with no issues.

How sturdy is the honeycomb floor/base of the tent compared to others in the price category? My girlfriend is a BBW and we are probably looking at around 450-500 lbs of weight up top when we go camping.

You can also replace the mattress at Original Mattress Factory. Just take in the measurements and they can make you a new dual density foam mattress

I have a question but first great job on the review. My question in other RTTs you can keep your bedding in the tent. Can that be done with this one? Not sure with the cover system

Great question, and one I highly regret not discussing in the video. YES YOU CAN. Keep in mind though, essentials only, small pillows/Thin sheet bedding/Folded flat sleeping bags that aren't too thick...yes they will fold up fine. Heavy blankets and thick unfolded items will cause bumps in the folding process and prevent you from closing it.

It looks like the skirt is still around the base when you deploy the tent, meaning that if it is filthy, you'd be crawling across the dirt to get in and out of the tent. I know ANYTHING strapped to the outside of my Jeep gets COVERED in dirt and mud after a day or two in the bush. Curious if this has been an issue.

I don't want to knit pick but is it not important in any roof top tent hard or soft shell to be able to leave your bedding in the tent, so once it's open you can climb into bed, plus it give you more space in the car. But not one review I've looked on rtt has mentioned it. What do u think?
