For the large areas I use automotive body filler. Also for door latch holes. Can completely rebuild them and drill back out perfectly and stronger than wood. But lay siding on setting body filler and it’ll imprint wood grain onto filler matching siding. Sounds like a lot but super fast and easy compared to silicone etc.

Thank you for this vid 'cause a lot of these "flipped houses" are a hot mess between the walls. This house is disgusting - the pee stained sub-floor needs to be removed because the boards are saturated with pee and the odor is gong to rise through the new flooring. I once moved into an apt. where I later found out the previous tenant kept approximately 20 cats & dogs - she'd live there for about 30 years and animal control had to come in and remove the animals. The placed was fine for about a month, then the pee stench started. The landlord refused to fix and I had to take him to court. No matter what he did the smell came back. He eventually had to remove a the flooring. The bathroom tiles were the first to be removed, apparently that was the place the animals did their business (keep in mind, that's 30 yeas of dog piss and poo). The debris was left in the trash area, (a small alley that bordered a house) for a couple of days. The stench was unbelievable! The owners of the house on the other side complained about the stench which was invading their home. They spoke to the right people 'cause an inspector came to my building and the debris was immediately carted away. Sub-floors with animal piss needs to be replaced, not "sprayed" and covered up. It's also a health hazard.

The closest big box store from where I live is a Lowe's at 1h15 drive. Do you think that they carry a good enough quality interior paint for a new house project?
@ambilaevus76074 жыл бұрын
To add to Dr Phil so that you understand. Cheap paint will change color very quickly, I had some that changed in a year. In the kitchen & other high touch zones, cheap paint won't hold up to scrubbing - it'll come off with whatever the kids got on the wall. Also it can be more likely to fail to protect in the bathroom(mold). I have had wonderful experience with Lowes exterior paint (storm coat) so they prob have a good interior. Just look for reviews online and ask other homeowners.

@goalie29984 жыл бұрын
Obviously I cant visually inspect the home. But the mold is likely from lack of a vapor barrier and the change of temperature from the conditioned basement. To the unconditioned space below. That will cause moisture to condensate on the floor. The best solution would be several dehumidifiers large hardwired ones below the floor. Or venting and strong exhaust fans may help keep that air flow.

"Easy work; money-making work." 👍 But stay away from that hot tub, Handyman - renters were probably using it as a toilet. 🤪 Yes, a loose sprayer connection & overlooked leak ruined the particleboard flooring under my sink too. Had to rip it all out & replace it, ugh. Nasty work. Funny thing was it took me forever to figure out where the leak originated. I was certain it was the main drain pipe or a dishwasher hose. FYI, our local Ace Hardware is discontinuing & discounting Valspar paint by 33%. I bought a gallon of premium interior flat for $23 yesterday. I think it's a corporate decision, so take advantage of it if you can. And a good buy for you. (And if you don't mind using the brand.) The color I had mixed is nearly identical to this LR color ~ a neutral go-with-everything, including doggie poo & pee, golden-greige. Although it's simply being used to tie LR wall color to outdated beige kitchen tile.

If anyone is interested that siding was the subject of a class action lawsuit but due to pro rating it is to late to file a claim however I would like to point out that it was incorrectly installed to begin with when you run siding in a half gable like that the frames lay the flashing and put as few nails as possible in the top corners then lay a three quarter minimum spacer board on the inside corner of the flashing then gently just let the siding touch the spacer and nail it keeping in mind that if you nail the end you are putting a hole in the flashing also if the roofers nail the end of the shingles they are making holes in the flashing the original construction of this house should not have passed inspection and the only reason the roof decking and gable wall were not completely rotted out was because somebody probably used a case of caulk on it when the house was built
