Hi James I can see the little extra shape the top of the under sheet this is the vacuum breaker for capillary The screw we use in New Zealand has a separate thread under the head to clamp the sheet to keep it firm on the seal I've all ready have boxes of them ready to send for changing our roof screws in Cebu. As you say not available in the Philippines.

I do have a question. Can you get thicker mill tin here in the Philippines. The tin they used is very thin.
@airwess3369Ай бұрын
Yes. Most use 3mm. But you can get 4mm, 5mm and 6mm at most suppliers. You can get the best prices going directly to the mill where they stamp them out. If your 200lb plus and want to be able to walk on it and don't want dents from falling mangoes for example then you need at least 5mm. And go price it out at every supplier. The costs vary tremendously as does everything here. Just by grocery shopping at 5 different places our bill is cut to 1/3 vs buying everything at one place. Every store here plays the game of having great deals on certain items to get you in the door and make they're profit off other items that are way overpriced. Most Filipinos work 10 hr days 6 days a week. But time off is made up by them having a crazy amount of holidays. And they rarely miss celebrating them. So on the daily combined with most having no vehicles or 1 motorbike per family, they primarily use paid public transport. So as much as Filipinas love to shop for deals, they simply don't have the time or money and resources to shop multiple stores at multiple locations. Plus, if you sell anything to a Filipino, they will buy the same thing at a higher price if it has a bigger discount. Store A has it at $5000 pesos but at a 50% discount. Store B sells it with no discount for $2300 pesos. They will buy store A 99% of the time. Not because they are bad at math. It's because they love getting a deal, even if they only think they are. Filipinos also get suckered by a warranty or extended warranties. It's a pain at first, especially for us on the go Americans. But once you learn where to get what and learn patience, it just becomes routine to shop multiple stores.

@airwess3369 I think you have your measurements wrong Iron comes in gauges 22 , 24,27 The thickness your mentioned you would never lift a sheet But your correct various thickness is available
@airwess3369Ай бұрын
@@graemescebuphilippines363 this is the Philippines in SE Asia. They use the metric system. And they sell the metal roofing in millimeters. I went to over 20 stores and plants here in the Cebu City area. They all sold it in thicknesses of 3,4,5,6 millimeters. 3mm is the most common. Maybe half had 5mm. And only a few had 6mm. I purchased 5mm. If you say the word "gauges" to a Filipino, you will get the deer in the headlights look. A look you will get with about 90% of the items you'll try to buy at your local hard ware store when using American lingo. If you say sheet rock, sheet rock anchors, zip ties for example you'll get the 🔦 🦌 look. It's Gypsum board, tocks and cable ties. Best way to shop in the Philippines as a foreigner is to take a screenshot of everything you want to get and show them the picture on your phone and ask them if they have it. And then be prepared to hear at least half the time "sorry sir, we no have, out of stock" or "no, we no have, we don't sell that here or we no longer sell that here." And they will literally look you dead in the eye saying it as there's your item sitting right behind them or above their head.
@airwess3369Ай бұрын
@@graemescebuphilippines363 and as far as the thickness goes, it's because it's actually 0.3, 0.4, 0.5, 0.6mm. But they don't say that. They simply say 3mm, 4mm, etc. If you say zero point 3mm. Once again you'll get 🔦🦌
@graemescebuphilippines363Ай бұрын
@airwess3369 OK Since I'm from New Zealand and work in metric system . Sure it part of mil and your previous should have been 0.3 Then we would not be having this conversation This year I added some extra flashing to our roof Consolation Cebu as I was not satisfied with the method around parapet. It involves over flashing from the gable so the water would not pond. The sheets were old imperial 8 feet x 4 feet or 2440mm x 1220mm Yes I have been many hardware outlets in Cebu as well been building more than 3yrs even though the main build was completed by the subdivision development it still ment we needed to compete the interior. Shipping our own flatpack kitchen and appliances. Wow what a lot of work that was completed now.

Just fyi, i live approximately 1/5 of a mile from the beach and i used the local brass colored roofing nails with those crappy hard plastic washers and so far after 3 years absolutely zero sign of rust. The only issue so far has been all the washers that i couldn't get smashed down perfectly, which was 70% at least ( and took much longer trying to get them perfect) i had to use elastoseal ( which is ugly) to get a proper seal. And on the old roofing where i replaced the umbrella nails with those screws buying me time until i replace with new "ribbed" roofing, i have to spend hours hunting down the culprit of leaks with even more elastoseal. Usually every few weeks we have a new leak until last March i had the entire roof pressure washed and put 2 coats of Boysen heat reflecting paint called "cool shades." It dropped the attic heat by 10 degrees Fahrenheit and haven't had a leak since. And i got it on Shopee for a fraction of the price it was at the store and the color i wanted, not the color they had.
