I don't get the point of buffing Luke, Deejay and JP but not bringing down any of the top tiers OR bringing up any of the low tiers. The disparity between good and bad characters only grew with this patch.

I personally think in most situations, adding more power is better than taking it away. Based on what was said in the video, it just sounds like they are trying to round out characters with these changes. Maybe they are experimenting with adjusting low tiers to be "reworked" to be better.

@@anthonygotttheonly Not really most situations, it just depends on what the state of the game is like. The top tiers in this game are obnoxious, overwhelming and don't have enough weaknesses (Cammy, Ken and Rashid really have no downsides, and Akuma's 9k health is his only downside offset by his other busted shit). Many of these characters invalidate others on the roster. Why play Ryu when you can just play Ken or Akuma? Who cares about Marisa's big damage, we have Bison! So you might be tempted to say "buff Ryu and Marisa to make them more appealing" but then you've just got more obnoxious, overwhelming, no weaknesses characters because that's the current state of the top tiers. We want to move away from that level of strength and find the most fun the game can offer. The tier below top right now are probably the most fun: strong but with clearly defined weaknesses. Ideally everyone else would be brought down or up to that level so there'd be a reason to pick anybody and they'd all be fun.

Terry Bogard was the character who got me into fighting games. I’ve yet to play KOF or Fatal Fury. I’m talking about Smash Brothers. This guy taught me quartercircles, DP, charge inputs. He was my main in Smash, and he’s my main now. I’m glad to see my man made it. If there were ever a guest character in Street Fighter, it would make the most sense to add Terry and Mai.

Well legend has it Terry was meant to be the main character of SF2 (his original design is the guy in the sf2 intro) but the team left to work on fatal fury and then terry was born and slightly changed. I guess Akuma went into hiding when they were dishing out nerfs and Manon overslept the day they were handing out buffs…. Or maybe they didn’t miss their days and Akuma actually just threatened to raging demon them all if they nerfed him and when Manon turned up they didn’t know who she was and directed her to xfactor auditions instead. I find Akuma to be in a good spot due to his tradeoff for low health. Unlike Bison who has normal health and can dish out 7k+ in damage with easy setups. Akuma doesn't deserve any nerf rn.

Agree. You still see Kimberly players in tier 2 and tier 3 tournaments. As a Marisa main though, I feel like Capcom is considering her some kind of comedic or tutorial character. Basically no tournament presence, and due to her size and speed she's a boxing bag in the corner.

I think their logic of not buffing characters like Honda and Manon is that this isn't meant to be a "real new balance patch" but an adjustment of the changes they did with the last patch so it better matches their intentions, but yeah these characters better be the focus of the next balance patch. With Manon in particular I still have the impression that they are afraid of making her good.

I love the idea of training your AI and sending them out to fight, especially when your opponent doesn't have to be online. 10/10 feature for people who aren't that competitive. She keeps receiving buffs big and small in as they try to incrementally raise her power. My question is what is Capcom afraid of with Kim? RE: scissors kick. Maybe I couldn’t find all the spacings, but pre-patch Cammy couldn’t always cancel into Heavy Spiral Arrow from Punish Counter 5LK if scissors kick was spaced on block and had to cancel into M Spiral Arrow if you weren’t sure of the spacing. Now it seems like H Spiral Arrow works 100% of the time if 5LK even reaches in the first place
