Hey great video. Just a note that's probably been mentioned by now but Xbox 360 games don't receive any resolution boosts on the Xbox One S. So the game is still 720p, not 1080p, on the regular Xbox One. The game is 4K on the 1X though.

The 360 version is definitely a bit sharper but this was the last Rockstar game in the 7th gen where this was the case. L.A. Noire looked slightly better on PS3, Max Payne 3 was basically identical and GTA 5 also looked slightly better on PS3. The differences were pretty much minimal though overall.

The game RDR has better lighting on PS3 than on Xbox 360, and this can be seen at the beginning of the game when the wounded John lies on the bed and takes away the girl Boni Magwauer comes in there on the floor the light falls on the PS3 version, and the Xbox 360 does not have light, it simply does not fall. The PS3 version has better lighting and that's a fact

I love this game, the frame rate though on my PS3 was shocking, some times 30fps, often a lot less, worst I had known on a PS3, but I did fit my PS3 with an SSD, it might effect virtual memory, which for most is beneficial, but it might screw up some precise timings, giving varied FPS, the N64 often did 14 FPS it worked fine, the frames are very well timed so was hardly noticeable. I play GTA5 on my pc, 60 FPS is fine, but you hardly notice 30fps, if my pc was running like the PS3 does in this, I would be thinking I have set it up all wrong, I even looked in the settings to see if I could turn the graphics settings down, silly me, anyways it's a fantastic game and very playable on the PS3.

I remember seeing many comparison videos regarding GTA 5 across all of the platforms it's available on, this was my personal ranking on the quality of each version, from best to least best (I hesitate to say worse because honestly the game looks good on all platforms): 1. PC 2. PS4 3. Xbox One 4. PS3 5. Xbox 360 PC looks the sharpest, which makes sense. PS4 looks somewhat sharper than the Xbox One. And the PS3 definitely looks sharper than the Xbox 360.

This analysis is inaccurate. The lighting is dynamic and has a random element to it; the PS3 version has no technical advantages (lighting, textures etc) over the other versions. The Xbox One does not render this game at 1080p, it only upscales the 720p image. The Xbox One X does not do any kind of "smoothing" to the original assets when outputting to 4K. It's merely that these assets are being rendered at a resolution far greater than originally intended, so the imperfections/blurring that was already there becomes more pronounced. For example if a HUD is rasterised at 720p, it will look pixelated/blurry at 4K simply as there is no more detail that can be extracted from it. There are different methods of upscaling that can simulate a more detailed image, but it wouldn't be objectively better than simple bicubic/nearest neighbour scaling (plus it can be very computationally expensive to do this in real time)
