As a military vet, I can confirm that the experience is akin. Sounds like state is like BCT and Federal is like AIT or wen you get to ur actual duty station. I start a co I’m a black female 120 lbs and 5’7, I’m 30 and never worked in this industry b4 I was a gov contractor I wanted to do something different and challenging. I’ve watched a lot of your CO vids and done a lot of research I’m excited to start they already told me about the overtime and I’m ready. First the training and I’m single with no kids no pets just ready to work and stack that money. I know all about respecting the inmates and I’m not going to pay attention to the staff backstabbers. I’m coming in with good integrity at the Santa Rosa men’s facility hopefully with me keeping God first everything will go okay

This gave me more insight on what the academy is like! I expected it to be like football off season, but way more strict! I usually like to over prepare especially for things like this, so this helped a lot! My first day of academy is tomorrow and hoping not to fuck up the first day!

I'm guessing they treat people more like adults at the BOP Academy because so many current and/or former military are either transitioning/joining. We've already had our Basic Training/Boot Camp, AIT, BLC and ALC training during our years in the military (all acronyms just used are Army specific). Also, many of us veterans had combat MOS jobs and combat experience, and we worked on combatives and weapons every day as regular job tasks. As well so many of us join the BOP to keep our federal years of service for retirement going, rather than starting over at the state level. I'm not entirely sure of this, as I haven't went yet. But it makes sense to me that such a thing would be. Great video!

Do you have a ballpark estimate of how long they take to complete the whole hiring process? I don't have any criminal history or finance issues that would delay anything. And I just got out of the military.
