I can't get over how fast Kidd could cover 5-8 feet of the floor. It's one thing to be in good position or to anticipate a pass but another to actually get to the ball, deflect it and steal it. When he's dribbling the ball, too, he has he body control to avoid a charge or turnover while crossing over at high speed--and then cross over again on someone else as he streaks down court.

Kidd was very very good. My only knock against him was a poor shooting percentage. When the Mavs won the championship in 2011 he had gotten a lot more efficient. Stockton shot over 50% career, pretty amazing for a point guard.

It's not amazing for point guard to shoot 50% for the 3 point line when you're shooting 1 3point shot per game. Jason Kidd retired 3rd all time in 3 point shots made as a point guard. That's impressive. The only 2 that shot more than him was Ray Allen and Reggie Miller and they were both shooting guards.

kalinwang1 Kidd was a career .349 % 3 point shooter vs Stockton .384 % 3 point shooter. Kidd shot more but was much less efficient, shooting a career 40 % from the field vs Stockton's 50%. When a guy shoots a poor percentage teams LET them shoot and it allows them to sag off to help D. I would like to point out that shooting 50% from the field as a guard IS pretty amazing. Only a handful do it

John Stockton is not only the GOAT point guard, he's the GOAT pound for pound. Smaller and not as athletic as the majority of other players but he worked HARDER and SMARTER and had more HEART than them ALL!!! He was CLUTCH hitting so many game-winning shots and in this game too he hit 2 huge 3-pointers that gave the Jazz a chance to win in the last overtime. Stockton is a true champion, he NEVER GIVES UP! Stockton best yrs were 89-98 he went 16 and 14. Made the all league defensive team 5x’s. I won’t get into all star team appearances and all nba accolades bcuz that goes without sayin. In my lifetime the only guy I put ahead of Stockton is Magic. Only thing isiah did better than Stock was score. He was a better distributor, shot the 3 ball better, better defender, more durable.

Also look at the second clip where Kidd doesn’t really lead Jackson into a shot, holds onto the ball for a while, then shoots cause they aren’t pressuring him. Kidd was stronger, faster, and a much better defender (1st team all defensive team) Stockton executed the pick and roll with Malone to perfection, and he had a sweet midrange jumper, but otherwise pretty limited. Even in this game, Kidd got the better of Stockton. Kidd’s defense turned the tide. If I’m picking the all universe team, my PGs are Magic and Kidd. They could both break down the defense on their own. Stockton could dish to Malone all day. Who did Kidd have? George McCloud.

No disrespect to the GREAT John Stockton, but I think Kidd was better. Kidd could control the whole flow of the game to a degree that Stockton could not. Stockton played his entire career next to another HoF'er, Stockton played within his role... Kidd on the other hand carried his team of scrubs all the way to back to back Finals appearances... Kidd could dominate a game without scoring in ways that can't even be quantified on a stat sheet, and his late game heroics on both offense and defense are legendary.

All I know is if I had to put every dollar I had on a game that involved going up against a team like the Jordan led Bulls or Lakers with Magic Johnson and Kareem... And I had to choose between Stockton and Kidd as the point guard for "my side"... Id go with Stockton... Im a Denver fan myself. But ive seen Stockton just go off on the best teams of the era. Over and over and over again like clockwork... I used to hate when the Nuggets would have to play him because he was just so hard to beat... No matter how good ur backcourt was he was gonna tear it up... And the consistancy at which he did it... The guy was ruthless. Like a machine...

On the other hand, once Kidd was finally teamed up with another HoF level player (Dirk), they won a ring together within only a few years, even though Kidd was already on the backside of his career. Kidd carried teams to the Finals while being the only All Star on his team, Stockton on the other hand never had to carry the load, but rather he was the one who was carried by Malone.

For me: Stockton, Magic, Kidd, Nash. I put Stockton over Magic because Magic had a huge size advantage over most point guards whereas Stockton made his mark with pure skill and smarts while being rather undersized. Plus, Magic had a stronger supporting cast.

You are on Drugs. Kidd retired 3rd all time in 3 point shots made. Stockton barely shot 3s. J. Kidd is a 9x all defensive team member. The only other guards to do that was M. Jordan (9x) and G. Payton (12x). Kidd is 2nd in all time assist. Stockton is 1st. Kidd has 121 Triple Doubles. Kidd leads all guards (PG/SG) in rebounds. So stop your BS. Kidd is clearly the better player and Defender. MJ and GP are the only guards who are better defenders than Kidd.

How in the hell Jason Kidd thinks Lonzo Ball comparisons are premature, I will never know. Lonzo is better! Kidd missed passes Zo would never. Kidd doesn't have better handles, better defense, better anything. Only thing Kidd does Zo doesn't is use the behind the back pass.

You're not a Zo fan if you think I'm lying. Kidd's a legend but, what I see in this video is NOT better than Lonzo.

So, Lonzo has had one season in the NBA. Did Jason Kidd make the defensive team or lead the league in assist in his first season? No. THey both avg'd almost identical #'s. So, til Lonzo gets 3-4 years under his belt, you need to shut the fuck up!

@@xart23x Kidd won rookie of the year. in that time, Grant hill was better then this year's current rookie of the year. Kidd played so well that they had to give it to both players. Ball Did not have any impact in the NBA in his 1st year. The games not just about stats. Ball just wasn't impressive.

Ball didn't impact? Lakers won 10 more games than the previous year and this with Lonzo missing 30 plus games. THe team was significantly better with him on the court. He had the best plus minus on the team. When he injured his shoulder, we proceeded to lose 10 games in a row. So, you sir are a brainwashed Lonzo hater. I bet you didn't watch one whole LAker game that Zo played in. You're just a hater.

It was actually Kidd's 2nd season, not rookie and it was his 1st All star season!
