My favorite character is a Firbolg I'm playing right now. His name is Aefir. He's a werebear druid 4/barbarian 1. He spills the beans in a different language

My favorite character so far is a level 18 Firbolg druid with the ritual caster (wizard) and magic initiate (wizard) feats. He was raised by two elven adventurers (one a druid, the other a wizard) who adopted him after his parents were killed by a dracolich when he was a baby. I played him as really naive, thinking of adventurers as basically superheroes (he was also very young for a firbolg). He also was raised in the wizard's tower, so I made him VERY socially inept (charisma was my dump stat). Most of the other players thought he was hilarious, which may be one of the reasons I had so much fun playing him all the way from level 1 to level 18.

"Firbolg" translates from Irish as "Men of bags" as they were thought to carry bags of fertile earth wherever they went to more easily farm where the ground wasn't as fertile as their homeland (namely the west of Ireland). The reason these bags of dirt was so important was because they were basically kicked out of Ireland because they lost a war against the old Irish gods.

I am a Firbolg tempest cleric (is important for his class to be said) in my D&D game, I decided to go the route of how they don't typically use actual names, but a nickname given to them by the party, and with him being a tempest cleric the name decided was Sparks (we did a one shot before the actual campaign to where he didn't really have a name and ended up fighting a small lightning elemental, so it was weaker) where My Firbolg got knocked unconscious from one of its lightning attacks, Thus the rest of the team called him sparks (due to his tempest domain and being knocked out by a lightning elemental)

Im thinking of a Firbolg Druid of the Land (Forest) and a Ranger (Tasha's Beastmaster and Ranger revised) that works with an Elven Druid/Ranger in a forest togheter with other Firbolgs and Fey Creatures to operate and take care of a safehaven where endangered animals are brought in. When the Druidic/Rangery Elf called Erasmus is out of town to track down a wounded endagered animal, the Hill Giants attack because of the Firbolgs refusal to join the ordening, and the magic that held the endangered species inside got destroyed, making them flee from the Safehaven. Thus, me, Darwin Fleetwood, Fern, Binna and Leisha each traveled out to track down the runaway beasts. Also i want to reflavor him shooting arrows as him just picking up large rocks and treelogs and chucking them at people. Also he has an enormous . . . . Sling

Not that chaotic isn’t possible it’s just more likely they’ve been banished from their clan.

Never played a firbolg as I pretty much only play Pathfinder, but you've inspired me to start looking at more races and being more open to allowing Large sized ones for PC's. There are a lot of races in pathfinder that should be large but aren't; Minotaurs are one, Half-giants are another. And while Centaurs are large size they're built specifically to deny them most of the bonuses they'd get from it, so I've been thinking of trying to re-work them. I mean game balance is important but so is rational continuity between monster manual and PC race versions of the same creature.
@Rookzer04 жыл бұрын
Yeah! Pathfinder has a means through the racebuilder to make a creature large instead of medium. As a dm i usually allow it and just make sure the players are aware of their size. Small corridores and low cielings if applicable
@DaveTpletsch4 жыл бұрын
@@Rookzer0 Ya, I hope to have the chance to use that in game soon. I've also been inspired by Grog from Critical role and want a half giant race as well. There is a Half Giant race in Pathfinder already, but it's built for the psyonics alternate class rules and doesn't really look like it'd work in any campaign settings I'm used to running, so I think I'll have to build my own half giants. I enjoy building stuff for my games from scratch so I'm really just making justifications but whatever. It makes it easier that Pathfinder has mechanics already set up to build custom creatures too. I'm thinking a half giant race is a good place to start familiarizing myself with those rules.

I'm in the process of creating a firbolg character right now. She's really timid and has a lot of anxiety problems, meaning she shuts out other people and spends all of her time with plants and animals even more than the average firbolg. I haven't figured out what happened exactly, but she severely injured someone she cared about after going into fight or flight while on the brink of an anxiety attack. Not knowing what else to do, she patched up the injuries she caused the best she could, then ended up running away from her home village in a panic, knowing firbolgs don't take kindly to traitors/evil people being among them and that the situation might be interpreted as her turning on her people.

I think it started when Matt described Pumat Sol (a firbolg shopkeeper NPC who sounds either Canadian or Minnesotan depending on who's listening) as having a wide nose "almost like a cow or a bull's nose across a human face," and fan artists took that as inspiration and ran with it, and now firbolgs tend to get drawn with cervine, bovine, and caprine features like the broad flat noses, long rounded ears, and tails.
