Unfortunately I've heard that sound out of the Exhaust before, and it was a cracked head. Luckily Dresser had a brand new one on the shelf, and had NO clue what it was for, so they made me one heck of a deal on it. $500 and they would pretend they never heard from me or sold it to me.🤣

I’ve always wanted one of those cranes, just haven’t taken the plunge yet. One would almost think you lived 16hrs from the closest civilization, the way you dive into repairs. Here in the Northeast, everyones math goes like 6 hrs rebuilding injection pump or 6 hrs on the D9 at $400 an hour, send the pump out. Love what you do, keep it coming!

run em periodically: do that. Treat the fuel: I use Killem. Lubricant for fuel: I use Lucas upper cylinder lubricant and fuel treatment. Keep water out of fuel: that's something I fight on anything I have to store outside. Condensation. Fuel filters and water separators: try to stay on top of that too. Pretty good about that. Still have a bad IP on a 50+ year old Ford 3600. Do have a new one I bought years ago for under $400.00. About 3 times that price now. Will install this winter. If I have the old one rebuilt locally it's $800.00. Will probably just box it and label what it's for and that it needs rebuild.

Yeah that engine carries some compression. We had our old 560 in the shop trouble shooting a miss. We had the nozzles pulled out of the pc cups and was using a hand held compression gauge, while standing on a 5 gallon bucket. The engine was bumped over and my uncle was promptly knocked off his bucket.😂

Great video as usual! I have a 282 in a Td6-62 so I will watch the videos again in detail, one question is were did you find your parts? I know I'm going to need to replace everything because it got a load of bad fuel with water and algae and the governor hasn't been right since and the last roost master I had done at the pump shop was 1800 bucks.
