My girls received a couple of Brave books for free, and they absolutely love them! I now want to purchase them all. I highly recommend them. :)I also purchased the Badger series for my youngest for Christmas and she was so excited. We love all TGTB books!

Hi there! Thanks for your content. It’s always so great. Wondering if any mamas can give some advice. My 7yo daughter is very resistant to reading. She reads well, just does not enjoy it at all. It’s becoming a bit of a thing in our homeschool as anytime I bring up that it’s time for reading it’s groaning and a pretty poor attitude. I have tried several different types of books (shorter/ picture/ chapter and many genres) and a combo of read aloud and independent. I talked about it with my husband and he explained that he absolutely detested reading and still does. Hard for me to wrap my head around as I have always loved reading. I definitely don’t expect her to fall in love with reading, but it’s frustrating that even a couple of paragraphs in history or language arts sets her off. Any recommendations? Thank you in advance!

I do not have a perfect answer. I can tell you that for necessary reading, like the Social Studies reading you are talking about, I would mostly just ignore the bad attitude. If you set the expectation that this is just going to happen, no matter what fit she throws, then she might get the message and give up on wasting her energy in fighting that never works. That's my best idea!

Have you tried strewing? I sometimes put a bunch of library books on the breakfast table and they inevitably explore them! Sometimes choice can make a difference!
