hi dear! Let me give u a lil trick to avoid gel residues on ur hair, before applyng it mix the ammount you usually do use with 2/3 drops of linum seeds oil, it will avoid gel to crack. p.s. I'm an Italian hair stylist with a big love for afro hair!

Heal-Thy Life Yeah because we have different genes so there's so much different combinations of tightly coiled hair like I have 3 different hair texture. I wasn't making the wash n go/4C connection (thinking it all but impossible) and resorted to only doing twist outs. Or leaving my hair unmoisturized all together for days on end, and even on the brink of cutting it all off, not wanting to dedicate another minute to my unruly crown. But, some very important things you did helped me see the light. Moisturizing on wet hair and shaking it out. The curls are popping and the clump-age is real. Thank you, thank you, and thank you again.

Not until I used a different product (Cantu Curling Smoothie) plus a Denman brush combined did my non existent curl/zigs start to show definition. I used to hate that damn Denman lol. I love our hair versatility! Took me almost 10 years of being natural for me to love my hair because now I know what works for me. Thanks for being part of the natural hair community.

You are a gorgeous woman. Loved the end results. Also loved how you did it in the shower with the steam. I think the steam helps for added moisture while defining the curls keeps the hair wet and curled up.

I had that issue of white residue as well and I just use oil to combat it. Some times I just lather coconut oil on my hair to seal all the moisture in and it helps remove the white residue. Other times I just take my handy dandy empty spray bottle and mix water and oil (olive oil) in it then I shake it. Then spray it on my hair.

A tip for more definition, no residue and moisture for when your hair dries. 1. Don't apply the eco styler gel directly unto your hair after washing your conditioner out. When I do my wash and go's.. I fill a spray bottle with water, bit of castor oil and coconut oil and a little bit of moisturizer. 2. section off my hair and spray mixture unto the section... comb through with Denman brush (see you have one too) and then apply the gel with your fingers from root to tip. 3. Blow dry to finish. 4. Hope it helps! my wash and go's can last up to 1 week. then I wear in high puff for another. No risidue!

Thank you for pointing out the heat damage. I never did the big chop, and i noticed that certain parts of my hair have no elasticity. I haven’t been natural since I was 13 and didn’t appreciate my before then so I don’t have a strong memory of the behavior of 4c hair. Now I realise I must have sever heat damage. I was doing aggressive heat straightening during the transition and over the summer I decided to stop. No heat at all. No dryer or even hot hot water for washing.

I think this is the second time I've randomly clicked on a natural hair video and was like, "Hey! That's Cleveland!" :) Okay, it's the suburbs but still...nice to see hometown naturals doing their thing! FWIW I've had great luck recently with Camille Rose Naturals Style Setter underneath their Curl Maker. Natural gels like Curl Maker tend to cause more shrinkage IMO but the definition is really nice. Good luck with your experiments! :)

Hi Nii, this look is basically just a way to enhance the curls in your hair. So you would need some type of curl pattern for it to work. But there are plenty of other ways to bet curls in your hair, like a perm rod set or a braid out :)
