You can also cook this in an Instant pot. Add all the ingredients Jess recommends, and then set your instant pot to 9 minutes. After it beeps, you can do a quick release and then follow her directions from there. I've done that several times and it comes out great. Enjoy!!

Where would I get dried elder berry
@amomto4 Жыл бұрын
@christian milton you can get it online, i used to order mine from mountain rose herb company, there are several places that sell it though. I dont buy it anymore because I've planted elderberry bushes. Elderberry syrup boosts the immune system and helps fight illness, it can be argued that taking it daily helps ward off illness. We typically take it daily from October to March when there seems to be lots of stuff going around, and only take it when fighting something the rest of the year.

We add straight syrup to unsweetened iced tea. We let everyone add what they want to their own glass, and I am sure its more than a spoonful. No one thinks of it as medicine, but as a treat. It's that good.

i never had coughs or colds as a kid but we foraged big time and we had elderflower syrup then elderberry syrup later in the year and rose hip syrup for viatmin c. we would take them straight off a spoon if we were not feeling our best drink them as cordials diluted with water or lemonade and if they got too thick in the pan they were syrup for icecream sundaes! I have not seen them since leaving Scotland but I never thought of looking for the dried ones here in Canada. I will need to look into it for sure.Thanks for the tutorial and bringing back happy memories.

I can say hands down Elderberry is the very best flu / cold prevention and remedy. A few years ago we were hit by the flu. I was the only one that consistently took it. Needless to say I cared for 5 family members with flu and was Blessed not to get it. I use the same recipe as Jess,its just good stuff !!

I have been making elderberry syrup for several years now. I can a case of 12 pints at a time, so we have it whenever we need it. I gave my mom and sister some last year, and they call it their crack juice - bahaha. but for all of you out there, another option if Amazon is out or too expensive for the same product and usually cost a lot less is on www.iHerb.com (shipping is normally free if you spend $20.00). Thanks again Jess for such a great video. we love our homemade elderberry syrup throughout the year and elderberry juice over ice during the summer mixed with a little water -its very refreshing.

@saltycat6622 жыл бұрын
@@Mimi33948 No, the oil you can consume. If you look at it on Amazon, it comes in a dropper and it's amazing stuff! It heals the mouth and helps fight off cavities too. It's also good for the blood and digestion and it fights off bad breath and body odor. Even if I sweat, I don't get stinky! You can make it at home. I mix 2 -3 drops in some almond milk because I have a sensitive stomach and it works like a charm.

I'm very excited about expanding these plants, I understand their benefits but haven't really been serious about using them. I watched a video by OG with Doug and Stacy they were getting new starts planted around their chicken coop. So thank you again for sharing your life with us, God bless dear and your family💞
