Great demo. How different is this compared to the rope bat for same training?
@danmartingolf2 ай бұрын
The irony is the people that made the rope bat don't understand that it needs to be in alignment to be effective in learning an elite motion. But they are very similar tools!

Looks like a useful aid and I buy that it's better than a rope. Can you tell me why you bend your left elbow so much in the backswing with the aid (which is generally frowned upon when swinging a club)?
@danmartingolf7 ай бұрын
It’s just particular to using the Pro or a rope. It simply performs better when you allow it to wrap completely around you. This is because it doesn’t have rigidity and therefore no detectable center of mass. Thx!

hello, enjoyed the video, but do you have a down the line view to see.thanks John

Love someone who actually thinks in forces rather than positions. I have an odd question. Have you ever tried swinging the pro by moving it in a clockwise circle as you turn back and through. I've been working on a drill like this and it produces a sort of Nicklaus type move. I can send a video if you want to see what I mean.

Send a video if you can! . I don’t quite follow thx!
I sent a linkbin my next message to a you tube video

The weight balance in the Pro is symmetrical. The weight balance in a golf club is an off center asymmetrical balance, unless you are talking about a face balanced putter where the putter face is level to the ground when the shaft is horizontal to the ground. I fail to see how swinging any symmetrically balanced trainer can help when other forces along with the ever present gravity is involved. That said, I agree with how the Pro can teach to not add forces that you talked about.

Thx for the comment! The PRO removes the two things about a golf club that impair natural learning. The awkward club face and the rigid shaft. This allows us to model the optimal MOTION first without the complications of the shaft and the club head leading us astray. But yes, you will then need to learn to apply the model of motion to the club mostly to learn how to optimally hold the club so the face returns square to the ball. But if learning with just the club was so much better, why do only a very small percentage of the golfing population ever acquire a high level of competency and skill? I believe that it is the awkwardness of the club itself that provides the biggest roadblock to learning.

I like the Pro own it and use it. There are swing coaches on you tube that swing towels and ropes similarly to how you teach swinging the Pro, ie, kind of stretching the length of the rope or towel in a straight line, and others who teach to snap or crack the rope or towel at or just past impact. Paddy Harrington wants me to use active wrists and forearms which i interpret as quite different from what you teach with the Pro. I think these approaches work for different players. Lotta ways to hit good shots i guess.

@@NonStoppp3332 I think the bigger issue is that coaches and pros like Paddy all have different sensations when they achieve the optimal motion. But these are personal perceptions and not universally coachable. Your mind cannot keep up with the movement so it invents rationalized causal relationships of what we “think” we are doing. And these are very real sensations! These often calm the mind and allow the body to do what it knows how to do intuitively. The causal relationship becomes a belief that helps the individual who invented it by keeping the mind out of the way. But when we try to instruct by what we feel we sometimes hit with one person and completely miss with another.

@@danmartingolf I don't mean to be critical, I love your videos. Your backswing with the pro starts from over your left shoulder, whereas a real golf swing would start with the Pro where the golf ball would be on the ground. Do you ever swing the Pro starting from a typical set up position? If not, why not? Great videos, very interesting.
