You're so welcome! It's one of my favorites as well - I think it's a really good way for most recreational players to learn the motion. Don't try to force the body ahead, but learn to let it match the intended motion!

I love watching your slow motion videos that show how your hands stay so passive. My teacher teaches the M.D.T. method. I love the old school teaching of golf. Now with your Pro, I can finally feel what he is trying to teach me.

Superb, back to feeling an organic swing rather than everything we have been told for years like thrusting the hips which have ruined countless natural swings including mine, great lesson!

Couldn't agree more - most golfers try to do way too much with their hips/core!

Another fantastic video Dan! Understand the basic feel of the swing then add the body movement to all work in unison. Trying do do this the other way round is trying to run before you can walk yet so many coaches go down this route because they want us to immediately look like a tour pro. The feel of the swing and how to counter balance it IS the golf swing.

I now own a PRO and love it. I understand from your other videos that most of the momentum is created in the 1st transition move down. Is it possible to add speed all the way to impact in conjunction with the momentum?
@danmartingolf
@danmartingolf 3 жыл бұрын
Thomas - once the swing has transferred momentum to the arms, it's too late to be able to add any speed to the swing. Your job is simply to allow the swing to go on it's own. that's the core of learning the PRO - most people try to add force to the club or speed their body up when it's too late, thereby slowing the swing and distorting it's direction. Most of us will gain speed if we simply teach our muscles/joints to allow the swing to happen - it's challenging!! Thanks!

Dan , do you recommend to swing the pro with the index fingers and Thumbs ? As to the real club , would the hold be in the similar place ? Hogan called them swing wreckers ? But than again, I am not into Hogan . I am more Bobby Jones , Ernest Jones , Mike Austin camp of slinging the club . Be blessed Regards Ross

Use the PRO however you need to gain mastery of it - most people do well to just use a two finger grip to get going. But eventually you want to get your whole hand on the grip, but very lightly.

I’m a terrible dancer with bad body rhythm. If I got a lesson or 2 from you, whats the average time for a person to “grasp” the new swing feel to the hips involved level? Its intriguing to me but also seems like a device best used with the inventor rather than making up some random new bad habit..

Thanks for the question! I can't put a timeline on when someone "gets" it. It really depends on factors that are outside my control. I do know, however, you will never develop bad habits with the PRO - if you follow the intention of aligning the components, you will be learning a sound movement pattern to model in your golf swing. This is because the PRO effectively does not have a center of mass and cannot be manipulated with leverage, it only works as a part of your total body motion! Should ypu manipulate the hands like bow out or twist in the downswing?
@danmartingolf
@danmartingolf Жыл бұрын
With the PRO - wrist conditions are irrelevant because it doesn't have a club face. It's just a model of the motion. With the golf club, bowing/cupping depends on the grip placement and the way the player's wrists natural motion. Wrist conditions are widely different among the world's best players and have pretty specific correlations to whether their grip is "strong" (closed face biased) or "weak" (open face biased). Wrist motion tend to be very instinctual if you have mastered using physics to move you and the club as a unit vs trying to put force on the club. It's part of your body intelligence to get the clubface in alignment with the target at impact. The more you manipulate the shaft, the more erratic this becomes. The more you allow the club to extend to impact, face alignment tends to happen quite naturally. So, no, you should never force manipulate the club to twist nor force the wrists to shape a certain way unless you are trying to drastically manipulate ball flight trajectory or curve. Thanks for the question!

Isn't the reaction the body counter-balancing the force created by the angular momentum of your arms and club?

Another great video. The problem I’m having is when I try to isolate one swing with a golf club There’s no momentum built up. When I use the Pro or club swinging continuously, it feels so much smoother and freer. Any advise?
@danmartingolf
@danmartingolf 3 жыл бұрын
Eliot - it's likely because you are used to starting your backswing by tensing up your muscles in your shoullders and wrists - try to keep them more passive in your takeaway. You'll get the feel that you have to create a little body motion to get the swing started. That should help allow the swing to flow more! Please take advantage of CoachNow as a PRO owner. I'm happy to take a look at your golf swing/pro swing! thansk!
