How to Jump Rope Like a BOXER Step by Step | Tony Jeffries
Watch me break down amazing boxing techniques
• Boxing Breakdown With ...
Learning how to jump rope like a boxer is very important. This is regardless of whether you are boxing for fitness or fighting. It helps you improve your overall speed and gives your body a great workout. All this will put you in great shape as a boxer. O can personally testify to the fact that jumping rope has made my feet much faster. This gave me a lot of edge as I fought my opponents as a professional boxer. In this video, I am going to share with you how to jump rope like a boxer.
My name is Tony Jeffries, Olympic medalist and retired professional boxer. I am now co-owner of Box 'N Burn, two boxing fitness gyms in Los Angeles, as well as the Box 'N Burn Academy where we train professional boxing trainers. During my career I won the national championship 7 times, and also became European champion.
In this video, I am going to teach you How to Jump Rope like a Boxer.
There are actually 4 different variations of Jump Rope.
1. Initial Stage to Beginner
2. Beginner to Intermediate and
3. Intermediate to Advance.
If you have never jumped rope before, this video is for you. The first thing you need to do to get started is checking the length of the rope. As you do that, make sure you adjust the rope to be just a bit higher than the height of your hip.
Try and be positive as you get started. Avoid thoughts that make you feel like you can never do it, or you just can't do it. You probably won't jump rope very well on your first day but don't let that stop you. Just as any other skill in life, you will get better at it with practice. My current ability to jump rope was not built overnight so you shouldn’t expect that either.
How do you start Jumping rope?
You start with the rope behind your feet and hands in front. From here, all you're going to do is turn your wrists. I often see people who try and turn their arm as well, but that's just too much. You are just going to turn your wrist slightly. First, I am going to do a bigger turn with my arms to get the rope around and then it's going to be small turns with my wrist from there.
Now please go ahead, watch the video carefully and try to follow through. By the time you reach the end, you will have learnt How to Jump Rope Like a Boxer
If you like this video, please check out my other videos that cover boxing education and everything else boxing. Feel free to subscribe and hit the notification button so you can get notified every time I release new content.

I'm just gonna say this, your videos really helped me get out of a dark place. I was depressed and living a sedentary lifestyle, now I'm working out every single day and getting better and better with my punches, not only did discovering boxing help me get myself into shape, it gave me a way to healthily release my anger and stress. You have truly changed my life for the better and I thank you greatly for it, Keep on rocking man!

for a boss man that states in one of his other videos that he never had any desire to coach, he certainly can break things down and explain them in a very simple, understandable way. seems to take the damage and repercussions of getting hit in the head seriously. think that may be part of the decision not to be a boxing trainer. or, Tony knows and i'm rambling.

My first day going to a Boxing Gym, the coach had me doing jump ropes before anything else. I prepared for whatever I thought I could, like handwrapping and a little on punching form so I wouldn't be wasting time or using too much arm power, but I didn't even think of jump ropes. I've never jump roped for as long as I can remember in my 22 years, so my dumbass was trying to get the hang of it for what felt like an hour but I didn't give up, didn't want to quit and most of all, didn't want to be scared away from the gentleman sport of Boxing by simple embarassment. My top count of jumps went from 0 to just 3, but it was progress. Unfortunately, I busted one of my fingers catching a medicine ball the wrong way, and then my city ordered another lockdown, closing the gyms again. My doctor told me to go easy on hands for about three weeks, but I didn't give up. As soon as I could grip things with that finger again, I bought a jump rope and started practicing around my neighborhood. I just finished today's practice and I'm making progress. Then I saw this video, and its like a godsend. I've been watching your other videos to help myself catch up so to find this video on accident was one hell of a coincidence. This channel is a great supplement to training and while I doubt you'll see this comment, Tony, I really appreciate these videos and the lessons in them. Respect from Canada and the Philippines!
