You have to give credit to the Late Mick Crowley of Crowleys music shop in Cork. He Played a big Part of Rory's Career. He was a very nice Man with a Passion and knowledge in selling musical equipment in Cork in the early Days. Unfortunately Cork lost Mick a Few years ago but he won't be forgotten for playing a Part in Many Successful Bands in Cork throughout the years. Crowleys was a Staple in Corks Musical History

Hi. He was my granddad's brother. So sad to hear he passed. I heard the shop had closed, but not that he died. Rip!

Thanks Ramon. Such a shame what happened to him but he was his own man Rory. He played by his own rules. What a giant though. What a player. To see him on stage in his element is a sight to behold. What a guy. He lived ate breathed & probably slept with his guitar just like Jimi did when he was a young lad. R.I.P. Rory. So inspirational. Keep it up Ramon. ;)

I can remember arriving in Gas Town, BC Vancouver Canada with my friend in the late 60s or early 70s. If you can remember the time, you were truly not there. Anyway we proceded to a record shop that had booths with glass windows to give everyone a chance to hear great music and to interchange with everyone around you. Yes we were listening to Rory Gallagher and Taste and the Canadian couple next to us was asking “Who is that”. Yes , most of everyone does not have a clue who Rory Gallagher is and was. A tragedy most assuredly.

Well Done. I’ve been fascinated by Rory’s tone for a long time, and would love to see a feature on his amplifiers and Efx boxes, most of which I know were treble boosters. How Rory ganged two separate amplifiers with the boosters also mystifying. Thank you for this!

This is great. I never knew that Rory played such a diverse collection of lesser known instruments. A true maestro he could get a great sound out of just about anything with strings. He had no musical snobbery whatsoever. One of the very few players who plugged straight into the amp no pedal board full of effects to make him sound better or more interesting. Well researched. Yes a vid on his acoustic guitars would be very nice indeed. Many thanks. PS I wonder where the Buddy Holly Sunburst strat came from.. I know that Buddys first strat got stolen from a van when he was gigging in Detroit maybe sometime around 1958 That would be the strat that he played al the early hits on. Anyway I love the respect that Rory had for Buddy. Elvis was the king of Rock n Roll but Buddy invented ROCK.

Interesting video. I didn't know about the 3 pickup Telecasters. I also started on an East German parlor guitar in 1960, in open tuning ! Later, my first electric was an Egmond in 1966 :) I have a 1962 reissue Strat that I acquired in 2018 and modded: the bridge pickup was too harsh so I connected the lower tone pot to it. The middle pickup runs directly to the output jack w/o tone correction and gives it a "Teleish" tone. The neck pickup has a woody, powerful tone with a bit a sparkle as Starts have. Cheers PS: looks like Marroly LGX has inspired the the Fano SP6 ...

I enjoyed this very much. Good to hear my trainer Chris Eccleshall get fair mention. Chris would wax lyrical about his encounters with Rory. No kidding about the acidic sweat; looks like it's been hit with stripper, followed by a heat gun, - finish, plastic, metal, - whole 9.But some of the original nitro seemed to come off fairly easily, including on the maple fingerboard necks. The phase switch is a good Tele mod, - useful on Jazzmasters in place of the " rhythm " circuit , as well. Everyone had a DanElectro. All those sounds you can't get with anything else, and they always cut through the mix.
