I'm impressed with how well this turned out despite you being bad at math. Nice work! For what you were saying at 44:38 about the seed stitch section in the center diamond, idk if this helps but my grandma always taught me to do at least 1 reverse stockinette stitch on either side of every cable so it sets it apart from other stitch patterns that might be going on. So, as soon as you end that cable, reverse stockinette, and before you start the next cable, reverse stockinette. As you're forming your first diamond and you have 2 stitches between the cables, they would both be reverse stockinette stitches rather than the seed stitch pattern beginning. Keep up the creative work and thank you for sharing! 😊

omgg this is so helpful to me!! i always wondered why the middle of my diamonds would come out the way that they do and see photos of everyone else’s and it not being like that. i’m definitely going to do this for my next one
@ikoxun11 ай бұрын
Some notes: 🍁Take a shot every time i say stitch 🍁 For the arm measurements section, my swatch was 10 inches in width, yet I divided it by 5. I have no clue why I did that, so I recommend taking the width of your swatch and dividing it by 2 so that you can get a larger cast on amount so the sleeve can be slightly oversized. This number can be used as a leverage point in a way so that if you want to make it larger, you know the minimum you need for your arm size. 🍁 I’m literally so bad at math so I truly hope the calculations I show works for you. Definitely MAKE A SWATCH!! I don’t want you to make the whole sweater and it not be the size you want 🙁 🍁 for the swatch, i realized i didn’t say how to figure out the specific seed stitch amount to do so i would just do 10 seed stitches, 1 stockinette, 2 reverse, an 8 cable, 2 reverse, 1 stockinette, 2 reverse, 4 cable 🍁 This pattern is the most accurate I could’ve gotten to the one she wears in the show and it is only my 2nd time making it, so hopefully you like it. 🍁I love you so much, you guys are literally the sweetest people on this earth 😀

The work you put into all of your projects is amazing!! I don’t knit but I still love watching these videos 💕 I’ve honestly tried, my Grandma was an incredible knitter and tried to teach me but I didn’t inherit her abilities at all. Even with her there to help me at every step I still couldn’t do it! Stockinette and rib stitch end up looking the same in my hands 😭 But knitting reminds me of her so I love learning about it 🥰 For fun I even tried knitting a little square while I was watching but I pulled it apart. I want to use the wool for crochet!

Okay so I think I’ve figured out the issue mentioned at 44:00 what I’ve done is started my seed stitching on the wrong side beginning on row 6. Then on every wrong side row after I make my seed stitch section one stitch wider on both sides each time. This fills up the entire diamond with the seed stitch pattern instead of getting a cluster of knit stitches! I hope I explained that well I’m a pretty new knitter but I’ve had so much fun figuring this pattern out. 😊

This tutorial is excellent, however there is one major error- the diamond section cables should be traveling/open cables (T3B/T3F) rather than normal ones. That will give them a clean flat look and prevent the pulling of stitches above, and it will also solve the seed stitch issue in the middle of the diamond (because in a traveling cable the inner stitches are purled). I also used a C5B for the center cable in between diamonds to flatten the shape out, and make the numbers work. (To do this method you need to increase the middle section by 1 stitch so there’s an odd number with a center stitch that’s the middle in the C5B and then becomes a single knit stitch between the traveling cables when they split). That being said, this video was super helpful for explaining all the other techniques and I’m almost done with my sweater!!

@coni30035 ай бұрын
Hey, so having different lengths of cable won't affect the work (just dont get the short ones like 40cm), and also, it's not compulsory to get them you can try the normal two needles which will give the same result

just wanted to say that there's a mistake in the diagram at 20:17! the seed stitches in the middle should be written as columns of dots and columns of blank spaces because they are reversed on the wrong side - that is, a blank space on the right side is a knit and a dot on the wrong side is still a knit. the pattern currently makes 1x1 rib instead of a seed stitch because of this, for seed stitch it should be purl on one side and knit on the other
@fionaschicken11 ай бұрын
thankyou so much for this tutorial!! for the swatch you mentioned doing the first 30 stitches, but how do you know how many seed stitches to do?
@ikoxun11 ай бұрын
omg i didn’t even catch that 😳 you can just make a swatch with any amount for the swatch since they’ll measure the same as stockinette stitch. The main thing in the swatch is to include the 8 and 4 cable twists . so if you want, you can start with 10 like i did
