All due respect to Rory as a player, but he has played the PGA Tour this season & is now playing a marquee event on the DP Tour, so is also taking a spot of a player that may need prizemoney to keep his card. Just like the LIV players, he is utilising his exemption into the event & just like the LIV signed players, Rory doesn't need the money.

Rory plays euro tour events every year and has supported it his entire career. He holds cards on both tours. @@mattnoonan8398 Some players can hold cards on two tours, like Rory, but other guys can't because one of the tours is the LIV tour. Looks like different sets of rules for some players. Poulter also played European tour for years, but now he is not welcome. World ranking points will come to the LIV tour. They just have to figure out the formula, just like for The Big Easy Tour, The Alps Tour, Nordic Golf League, Mena Tour, which all receive OWRP.

@@rmmst49 I can add to that with the rumour of the contract situation. For example, Dustin Johnson signed for 125million. Now this is a rumour so I wouldn't quote me on this, but everything Dustin wins he doesn't actually get it until they he has won what his contract is worth. So he won the other day knocking it down to 121million. It was basically a up front payment for his future earnings. Now if the above is true, Then it really isn't that competitive. It's a locked in tour for most of the players playing. They won't get relegated to another tour or have to go into a qualifying situation to play in the next event. If no consequences to playing bad then what sort of professional sport is that. It's a bit like what the Super League in football tried to create, Locking in all the top teams.

There seems to be a lot of vested interests currently operating here that are making a lot of noise to protect those interests. Golf is a professional sport and indeed a business and as such should be totally open to all and not a chosen few. Ability should be the determining factor, people just want to see the best golf available and it is entertainment all said and done. Any chosen vehicle or organization involved if more than one, is in competition with the other/s and this can only be a plus for the very game itself.

The argument is that LIV is not so much a tour but a sovereign wealth fund throwing money at famous players to try and promote the country’s new tourism play whilst washing over their human rights issues. Other tours have more structure in terms of qualifying, routes for young and amateur players, and collectively provide points to events such as majors and Ryder cup.

Because all those tours are ‘sanctioned’ - in other words ‘controlled’ by the PGA. LIV golf is the only tour not controlled by the PGA. The PGA is using the Saudi human rights record as a negative when most sponsors of the PGA do big business with the Saudis. Especially the women’s tour. China has a worse human rights record but their golfers are welcomed! It’s all a power struggle and messy.

I disagree with Rory's "they shouldn't be here" stance. Or Shane saying "they don't deserve to be here." They may not like that they're there (which they obviously don't), but being in the top-60 in the OWGR is a qualification to get into this tournament. If they're in the top-60, then it is what it is. Now, if that court ruling next year changes things and LIV guys aren't allowed in DP World Tour events, that's a different story. But for now, Shane and Rory gotta live with it.

I feel for a player like Alfredo Garcia, a member on DP tour, busted his ball all year was kicked out because some LIV players who never supported the DP tour want to play. Yet their only intention is to get points for the majors. I can't see how golf benefits as they claim.

Subsequently, only now as LIV members, to maintain their higher rankings than Alfredo & gain more points they were automatically allowed to play. Thus pushing Alfredo down the line to be omitted.

LIV players are playing to get ranking points which is controlled by the PGA Tour cartel. This will be sorted out in the court. In a few weeks LIV will have as good fields as any non major PGA Tour event - they probably do already considering that LIV players play all LIV events and PGA players are spread out over many tournaments.

They definitely don’t have a better field than most pga tour events, the players is the strongest field in golf for a start, the fedex cup playoffs obviously have a stronger field, the Scottish open, the Phoenix open, the memorial, the match play, the Arnold palmer invitational.. the vast majority of pga events are much stronger and from 2023 the top 20 have agreed to play 20 events a year together The only pga events that liv are stronger than are the ones the week of or before a major

Why are LIV golfers taking part in PGA tournament? They are well paid by LIV golf, a normal PGA tournament only pays out slightly more than one million dollars to the winner when they are paid 100 million to take part in LIV golf, so why should PGA allow LIV golfers play in their tournament?

Rory is arrogant little jerk. He says that the LIV tour golfers are all washed up, yet he was just beat in the OPEN Championship by Cam Smith the number 2 seed on the PGA tour. I venture to guess if you look back on past tournaments that DJ, Patrick Reed, Jason Kokrak, Brooks Koepka and Taylor Gooch, Bubba Watson and others on the LIV tour have beat him. Now what interesting is that the PGA tour and the European tour are watered down now, and Rory likes it like that so he can win more tournaments in the future. If the LIV players don't play at Wentworth, then Rory will be the most likely to win. But by having the LIV players there he will have some competition. And everything Michael Hudson said below me.

Cam Smith has acted badly throughout, knowing he would grab the LIV money yet denying it all the way with his I’m only here to play golf crap!
