1:40:50 Rory questions if the Doner kebab is authentically Turkish. It is not. It was created in Berlin in the 70s by Turkish immigrants. It was inspired by the authentic Turkish kebab, but it followed the northern German culture of putting food inside a bread roll. Fischbrötchen is a similar north German option, but using fish rather than kebab meat.

What you should do, likely what you’re already doing, is as Martin said above. Once you’ve got a good guest, see if said guest can point you to another guest - maybe even make the intro easier.

@@HungryFMCG Great content! Possibly a little late to the party on the viewing figures... my thought would be the video length. For a KZbin version of the podcast it's quite intimidating to see something at 2.5 hours (it's taken me months to decide to take the plunge). Perhaps break it down into 30-40 minute sections to make it a little more approachable? With the added advantage of more videos for the same content.

Listened to two hours of this in the background and it is wild how you guys (mainly Rory) interrupt each other. Rory: "Ah well the interesting thing is!"... Host: "Have you been to New Maulden (was likely going to make a point about the Korean population)... Where do you like?" Rory: "Well I can't remember but anyway this place by Charing Cross"... I can't believe you guys are in the same room - more interruptions than a big group Zoom call...

I think there is a well worn trope in business that you should always produce a product for a broad audience and not for a niche audience. For example an adult theme park would seem to go against the idea of a broad audience because you are excluding a large group and therefore limiting your potential profit, but this just homogenises these groups to the common denominator, IE. family friendly. Its the same reason that films or brands such as Star Wars are unable to serve the original audience and are therefore stuck serving nobody. Perhaps, from a business perspective, it does make sense but my feeling is that so many brands could be so much more inventive if they played to a more specific audience.

Feedback from someone who listens to a lot of Rory for the host. - It appeared like you weren't that interested in Rory and even frustrated from your body language & there was a lot of interrupting from you. People are here primarily to listen to Rory and you're there (in my view) to host Rory and ensure you get through x, y and z content. It felt too much like you were trying to tell your stories. Hope that helps 🙌
@HungryFMCG8 ай бұрын
thanks for feed back. few bits. 1. I am moving around because not only am I hosting Rory, I am the sound engineer checking the audio and videographer checking the video. I am one man band on a budget and don't have the luxury of a producer, and vidoegrapher. 2. What you've described is an INTERVIEW. "People are here primarily to listen to Rory and you're there (in my view) to host Rory and ensure you get through x, y and z content." is My podcasts are not INTERVIEWS - they're REAL LIFE CONVERSATIONS. Both sides speak. There are interruptions. That's real life. Thanks for feedback tho

Why do you keep interrupting him telling him to get closer to the mic when the audio is totally fine during the period where he's reclining?
@JDAfrica3 ай бұрын
I assume it’s the pit fall of someone who has a lot of head knowledge about production. I’ve seen it happen a lot as a fashion photographer … where a photographer spends most his time ‘perfecting’ the lighting and angle and depth of field … instead of talking to the subject/model. Sure it’s a technical masterpiece - but lacks conncection. We tend to focus on the things we can control and are proficient in.

Rory sometimes turning his back on this dude in what seems like an act of dominance, or alternatively sitting at right angles respectively staring off into space. Almost like this guy is a prop, a launching pad for Rory to spout off into soliloquies on one topic or another. Thoroughly love Rory’s insights. Man is a genius. Left wondering thoough if their lack of chemistry is the fault of Rory or the young dude.
