Finally, somebody is reacting to The HIP that possesses the acute sensitivity for highlighting nuance and detail within all aspects of their writing, sound and performance. Good on ya!! In Canada, this band is so revered and beloved, that they have since become a standard part of the public school 'art / history' curriculum. Thanks for all these great reactions. Always looking forward to more HIP. Cheers.

This was from Canada Day 1992. That day, the Tragically Hip played three different shows, in three different cities across the country, in three different time zones. They stated in Halifax, then played Barrie, ON, and Vancouver was the last show of the day. Much Music broadcast all three shows on TV to a national audience. Even all these years later, that's just an insane undertaking that even the biggest artists in the world today would never even attempt. Also, this was before the album Fully Completely had been released, so this was the very first time that they were playing those songs live in front of an audience.

Hi Laura, If you really love Gord Downie's style, check out some of his solo songs. I'd suggest Chancellor and Vancouver Divorce, both off his first album (Coke Machine Glow), and Steeplechase and Pascal's submarine off his second album (Battle of the Nudes).

I was fortunate enough to be at this concert. I was so impressed with just how tight the band was live.

basically the tightest band ever... thats what happens when 5 dudes have been playing together for 35+ years

Kudos to whomever sent you these clips. He's picking great versions; great a band as they are, they often lost a little something in the studio. To really hear the full effect of the drops and the guitar interplay, live is best.

Depends on the age no if some singers. But with Gord Downie and the Hip live is damn near essential.

Agree with Johnm…a great version of the song live. As I said before…I’ve seen them a lot. The energy from the crowd during this tune is literally insane. The whole crowd would bounce along…everyone was jumping. At least at the concerts I went to.

Morrusey doesn'tdance... he just swayss back and forth, or side toside... Gordie now thats Dancing ;) But may be it's my Candian Biased opinion...... The Hip have some softer songs like theSmiths... Hmm Never compare the two before... but yeah I see what ya mean!
