ROS ARAGO IV Breakdown [Destiny 2] Does It Live Up To The Hype?

In this video I'll be taking a look at the legendary auto rifle, Ros Arago IV with the Onslaught perk. The Destiny community seems to have nothing but good things to say about this weapon, so I wanted to put it to the test to see if it's actually deserving of the hype. Enjoy! 🍻

Another Onslaught benefit on Auto's is increased Super energy gain. There isn't a negative modifier applied to onslaught boosted autorifle rounds, so you can gain a full autorifles magazine of super energy at double the speed compared to a regular 600 rpm one.

I love this auto so much. I've got Subsistence/onslaught and it's just plain silly fun. I can't wait to use it with Gyrfalcon on Hunter once we have some void artifact mods, because even without them it's still absolutely cooking.

Without a void artifact mod gyrfalcon is the best to go, imo gyrfalcon looses it's usefulness once there is void in the artifact

I'm an f2p player, so when riven's wishes rolled around, i immediately got Briarbinds and was so excited after thinking i'd never get them. Then that same day, i got a Repulsor-Onslaught roll. Soloing content has never been easier. It felt like a reward for putting up with the burden of f2p Great review, honest the whole way ❤

I have some with Onslaught that I've kept but it's the one with Rewind and Deconstruct that is my favourite - I've never seen a gun fire for so long without having to reload. It's just stupid fun and in a 10 year old game that is a selling point for me.

Got a repulsor/onslaught roll and it made me jump on my hunter for the 1st time in months to use it with gyrfalcons. I have been playing hunter almost exclusively since, great gun.

Yep. Repulsor brace on a pure void subclass is exactly where the meat and potatoes are with this gun. Onslaught, Golden Tricorn... next season maybe even Deconstruct will be something, why would we be getting a perk like that now when there's not that many constructs to use it on? Maybe next season there are.

For me as a PvE player, it's not Onslaught. I mean, Onslaught's fun - but really, for me it's Repulsor Brace that's the exciting part. Onslaught or Golden Tricorn are both goated. This obviously means it calls out for a void subclass, and building into weakening and other void debuffs - for instance, on a Warlock with Briarbinds and void souls, you never NOT have overshield, and with volatile rounds everything blows up into void clouds. It's that, but also the fact that void auto rifles are pretty darn thin on the ground, especially if you like them fast (600 or 720). There's the Gnawing Hunger, there's the 720 from Garden which is a lot more of a pain to get in a good roll - and then there's this. Bungie REALLY wants us to run pure element setups now it seems, void with void. That's where this is an absolute S tier choice imo.

I’ve been lucky enough to secure both Rep. Brace + Onslaught and Sub. + Onslaught. I can’t wait to take this thing into some Master Lost Sector farms with void singes. I’m thinking Verity’s Brow/Nezzy’s Sin/Briarbinds, Gyrfalcon’s HB and last but not least a bit of Actium War Rig just to meme things out a bit. 😆 It’s always a pleasure to catch up on your Destiny breakdowns. I run a ice fall mantle stasis build and having permeability onslaught really made this build a staple of stasis PVE builds. I run it with agers and the new stasis sword the slammer (eager edge/chain reaction with collective action). These all together is amazing. Alt build is any headstone weapon to get collective action on the slammer active all the time. This combined with Icefall mantle gives me a constant 45% damage on the slammer with healing. Ice fall frees up surge mod slots to use other mods to feed into the build.

Personally I like Rewind Rounds with Onslaught more because you get more in the mag to work with. That being said one combo that doesn't get mentioned is Permeability + Golden Tricorn. So long as you can keep your Rift energy going you can switch the elemental damage and benefit from that subclasses grenades. It really changes things up and I've been looking for a good exotic to pair with this. With this combo I'll be keeping this for when Bungie decides to drop that final darkness subclass.

I haven't seen Rewind Rounds roll out on this one for me yet, but I am eager to give it a try when it does! Also, I never really considered future use cases for Permeability. If we do get a new subclass, we'll probably be working with limited synergistic weapon options to start out, and this gun would slip in very nicely! 👍👍

I would use it on my gyrfalcons build but honestly collective obligation is by far the best for that build and any other gun is a direct downgrade. I really hope they give some of the non re-released raid exotics catalysts

That does sound like a very nice perk combo to run with Gyrfalcon's. While Ros Arago wouldn't have the reach of Ago Old Bond, with the Onslaught perk, it can really output some damage when in range! 👍👍

Depends what roll you have on age old bond. With dragonfly, destabilizing rounds it feels like an exotic with how well it explodes groups of ads

Since it finally got a catalyst late last year, is there any chance you'll take another look at the Monte Carlo? Since it's one of my favorite weapons, (I use a melee build on Hunter as often as not), I was pretty excited when I found out it got one and hopped back on recently to give it a shot, but was honestly kind of disappointed since the catalyst's effect doesn't feel that effective to me unless you're chaining it against weaker mobs. It doesn't help that it doesn't activate Assassin's Cowl for Hunter, though I don't know if other classes have an issue with any melee effects from them not triggering when using it.

I did take a break from Destiny for a bit. For the first time in nearly 10 years I was feeling fatigued by the game so I had give the mental batteries some time to recharge. I definitely plan on taking a look at a few Prophecy weapons. I just had a nice Prosecutor drop for me the other day! 👍👍

Everyone really needs to get a grip with their range obsession. The difference between a maxed out range roll of this gun (full bore + accurized rounds) and the smallest possible range roll (anything that doesn't increase range + steady rounds) is about 6m (26m vs 32m) & that is only to the point where dmg fall off begins. 6m is like 4 steps for your guardian. It matters for shotguns or fusions (in PvP) so that you get the optimal one hit kill range but on a primary it's not a massive deal. There are very few situations where you'll be engaging someone at more than 25-30m & if you are doing that with an auto rifle then you're probably going to lose that duel regardless of how much range you have (some exceptions). It's even less relevant in PvE where engagements over 30m are rarer & losing a few points of dmg is not really an issue. Personally I would prioritize stability & recoil on this gun. Being able to keep it consistently on the crit spot will aid you more times than having a couple metres extra range.

I agree with you for the most part. I do thank many players do get overly fixated on the range stat when other categories could provide a more efficacious boost to a weapons performance in certain scenarios. But at the same time, range is a stat that carries a triple benefit; not only extending the damage fall of start distance, but also narrowing the accuracy cone, and extending the effective aim assist fall of distance. So while specing hard into range is not always the best play, it is a solid one to default to when it doubt. 👍👍

The only problem of this gun is that it's sooooo rare. I have a fun roll, subsistence and deconstruct. I rarely reload xD But I really would love to have found an onslaught one. I even went back to playing some gambit for the breakneck. got a ton but meh, just bad luck hehe

Some people do feel that Golden Tricorn is the true standout perk on this weapon over Onslaught. If you use it and you like it, stick with it! 👍👍

I happened upon an Arrowhead Break/ Extended Mag/ Repulsor Brace/ Onslaught roll that I found pretty enjoyable to use. Only reason I even realised I had it was because I finally got Briarbands and was putting a build together for it, and since void souls spread weaken I figured it was worth sorting through my vault for RB rolls to compliment it. It hadn't been on my radar at all prior to that, but it's good, perhaps not surprisingly since (imo) the 600rmp autos tend to have a particularly nice feel to them. That said I am looking for a Title roll that would largely replace this in the build for cases where I don't specifically need an auto rifle, since I finally read the guardian games origin trait after a week of not paying attention and realised they generate class ability energy. But for sure I'll hang on to this for other void builds.

I do really love that roll on my Retraced Path, but I would have to figure it's just because players are already familiar with each perk. People usually tend to gravitate towards the new and shiny. 👍👍

@@IronworkerGaming fair, but retraced path is a solar trace rifle, those take special ammo, the draw for a void 600rpm auto is that it's got a better damage output than most smg, better range than most sidearms, and can take advantage of volatile rounds and other buffs for void specifically But the main focus is that onslaught increases the fire rate but causes you to reload more often, almost turning it into a pseudo smg of sorts. Taking advantage of golden tricorn on a void warlock specifically is much easier than solar since devour has so much snowball potential, not to mention briarbinds allowing you to get void ability kills from the child You'll get more damage per bullet while not expending your magazine as fast as with onslaught, which will subsequently add more value to subsistence by keeping your magazine fuller for longer as you mow down basically the same number of enemies And those telesto munitions are just a little cherry on top

Not really a PvP gun. It lacks some of the go-to PvP perks, meaning stuff that's always on and doesn't require a kill. Also, the 600 adaptives are in general just worse than both 450s (best body ttk of all autos, which is why people are going mad for Prosecutor) and 720s, the faster ones are better than 600s if you can headshot, especially if you get a gun with always-on perks, not kills-required-perks.
