I'm so glad I found your video. A co-worker of my sister allowed us over to her home to dig up whatever we wanted from her garden. This beautiful plant caught my eye. I've never seen it before in any nurseries in my area, therefore, I didn't know anything about its care. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us fellow gardeners. XOXO

The Rose campion is one of my favourite plants. I think its about having the fushia against the grey that makes it so dramatic. It seeds so quickly so good luck, spread them around for colour.

They no longer sell them in garden centers.

This has been growing in the dry, gravely, sandy soil under the lilac by the front porch! I was always calling it lambs ear until they bloomed, one fuscia and one white. Very exciting!

I too am so excited when one appreciates the Rose Campion. Happy gardening!

Constantly trying to outwit Bambi and her fawns here in Michigan. Cousin in South Bend has so many of these along her southern wall. Her area has deer but they dislike the felt texture of the leaves. Just planted seeds in Michigan. Fingers crossed.

Hi thanks for sharing. Along a wall must really be dramatic..beautiful. Good luck with your seedlings and I am sure it will all work out, they are pretty sturdy.

Great video, very helpful. I was growing Rose Campion, and didn't know it. The person who shared seeds with me said it was Lamb's Ears. The foliage is similar enough to Lamb's Ears that I thought it was just a different color of it. I'm so glad to know what I have.
@redsoilgardener Жыл бұрын
Yes the foliage, hairy stem and leaves does look like Lamb's Ear. I am glad you found the episode helpful.

Hello from California. Last year we collected seeds but had no luck with their propagation. I have to admit it was not done very carefully. We just randomly cast handfuls of seed into a large planter box. We'll try to be more careful this time. Always loved the Rose Campion
@redsoilgardener Жыл бұрын
Hi, do try again. This time scatter the seeds in a propagation tray. Ensure it that the potting soil is moist. The seeds will come up very quickly.

Thank you for your video, I've been searching everywhere how to grow the seeds & yours was the only video i found on youtube. I've loved this plant for years & finally got one this year & potted it. I've taken possibly 200 seeds from it & now I can plant them in spring (I'm in the UK & we're coming into winter so is spring the best time to plant them? ). Thanks

I too love the Rose Campion, I have this pink variety. It was gifted many years ago and once I realised that seed propagation happens easily and fast, i constantly deadhead spent flowers and collect their seeds. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Linda, Great and don't forget to collect their seeds once the flowers go into seed production.

Hi, because the flowers are so delicate have you tried mixing with the Yarrow. See if it works.

Hi Ginger, when you do get it, once it goes into seed production collect the seeds. They propagate very quickly.

thanks for the video Today they gave me one of those plants that is as big as the one you show. A question, when does the flowering end, is it necessary to prune it or does it leave it?
@redsoilgardener6 ай бұрын
The Rose Campion will flower through summer. What you need to do to get it produce more blooms is: 1. Once the flower is spent, follow that stem down to where the two new baby flower are emerging. You will need to cut that stem just above the new babies. 2. Do not prune the whole plant , just go individually and deadhead the spent flower. Dry the seed pod and collect the seeds. 3. If there are dried stalks you can remove those. Once the flowering season is over you can then remove the dead stalks at base.

How fast do the seeds germinate, is it too late in the season to start in Zone 7B? Also, I take it you just toss the seeds on soil and that's it? Thank you
@redsoilgardener6 ай бұрын
Hi they germinate very quickly. I usually take a seed tray and sprinkle the seeds. I leave the seedlings in the tray until they are ready to move into a small plastic pot and gradually into a bigger pot. Once the leaves look sturdy enough you can then slowly introduce it into your garden. However, you could toss them in the soil and keep an eye on them. Some of the ones i had, did self seed and they popped up around the mother plant. So either method works.

@@redsoilgardener I got a whole bunch from a neighbor, and she she also gave me seeds. I made the mistake of leaving the rosettes in rain, and I think some perished from too much water. But some still look good, and I have the seeds. They don't do so well in bright shade/dappled sun, eh? The front of the house faces SW, the back NE and I was hoping to try back there. Maybe the seeds. Thank you so much.

Ive just planted a pot of this from seed and starting to get seedlings. Do i put each individual seedling in a pot if its own or do I put a few in one pot, when separating them out?
@redsoilgardener6 ай бұрын
What I normally do is sprinkle the seeds in a seed tray. The seeds are tiny, so planting them individually will waste of space. They germinate very quickly. Good Luck and happy gardening.
@nmcgregor19906 ай бұрын
@redsoilgardener how long do you leave it before separating them out, and when separating them, is it worth putting 3 or 4 into one pot?
