Hi, a tidbit of info to this song. The guys in the group did not want to record this song because they thought it was beneath them in singing about people washing cars. Gwen Dickey, lead singer, did not mind singing this song. She wanted to record it. Later after the song became a hit for them the guys like it. lol

I highly recommend "The Age of Aquarius" in the opening scene of the movie "Hair." Renn Woods' singing is beyond perfection, and the Twyla Tharp choreography is so lovely.

Loved seeing the original line up of Rose Royce in concert and Gwen Dickies voice was so good. Wishing on a Star, and I'm going down were two haunting classics but she brought it when they sang Car Wash. Especially the seventies soul sound of the horny horns blowing loud and strong bringing out the sound of the seventies.

This song to me represents the general essence of the mid to late 70’s , when I was a teenager, the African -American lifestyle was just pure good times through the bad ( just like the tv show “ Good Times “ !) and having good clean fun, embracing the times, and movies like “ Car Wash” was just pure fun and comedy , and the music from the soundtrack was just the same, it became our daily soundtrack to our lives!

The group Rose Royce has a interesting story behind it. The female that sings in the group is a cause of frustration for this band. The band first formed without her. They didn't know her. Check it out. Most of the guys felt like she got more credit than she deserved.
