I ADORE this video. As a bisexual woman, I've encountered lesbians who refuse to date me, sometimes even talk to me, only because I'm bisexual. I've also encountered, basically every time i've come since I was 17, people (strangers as well) ask me "okay but what percentage gay/straight are you?" And I always respond, "0% gay, 0% straight.. 100% bisexual." Thank you to both Rosie and to Rose for putting this out there. Seeing an open and proud bisexual woman with her wife who's a lesbian, but completely supportive, gives me a lot of hope. I love you guys!
@maggiequinncloud8 жыл бұрын
Nina Reyes That same thing happened to me! It caught me so off guard though, because I know my mom used to be a nun, but she's also a lesbian, so I was thinking (hoping?) that it would be easy and she would accept me. She spent about a half hour explaining to me why my sexuality was invalid. At that time I'd never been with a girl either, and that was one of her main "reasons" as to why I couldn't be bisexual. She also told me that "if I kept this up, I'd never get married." and "How could your partner trust you??" It was exhausting, and she still isn't entirely supportive. One of her friends actually told me straight up that if I was dating a man, I wasn't welcome at pride parades, because I "still had straight privilege." which baffles me, because someone brushing my sexuality under the rug as though it doesn't matter isn't privilege. People assuming my sexuality before talking to me isn't privilege. My mom calls my sexuality a "stepping stone" as though some day I'll pick one or the other. No, I'm bisexual whether I'm in a relationship with a man, or a woman. I'm bisexual no matter who I marry. I'm so sorry to hear about what it's like in Venezuela! I've spent a good amount of time abroad, and people in the states talk about how bad LGBT+ people have it here.. If only they knew how lucky we were. The only thing that never fails to shock me about US law is that LGBT+ people can marry, but there is still a law called "gay panic" which is valid in court as a defence against murdering LGBT+ folks. As opposed to recognizing it as the hate crime that it is, people can legally build a defense that states they are not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect, and this can be legally used as an excuse for murdering or maiming an LGBT+ person. That being said, sadly, compared to a lot of other countries, even with that law in place, we are so incredibly progressive and lucky. Hopefully, one day the world will catch up.

+Maggie Cloud I literally was just talking to my mother about the ignorance and judgement within our own community. specifically about how some gay women are put off by bisexual women. it will forever baffle me that we ostracize people in our community that are different from us, aka the exact same thing that's been done to all minorities fighting for equal rights. ugggh, I'm sorry you've had that experience. if only more people knew what the kinsey scale was. you know considering it was discovered in the freakin 40s.

theres a recent Reddit topic in Actuallesbians where Bi/pan women are discussing their positive experiences with lesbians where some of them have no problem with their orientation or overcame that biphobia if your interested type in the Actuallesbians subreddit "Bi women married to other women" the full title is "Bisexual women married to other women or in long term healthy relationships with women, can you share your stories?" As a BISEXUAL I would say the biggest reason Bi women tend to go more towards guys is bc a heterosexual relationship is a lot easier and faster to come by, DOES NOT MEAN THEY DO NOT LIKE WOMEN. What I think happens a lot with lesbians when they date Bisexuals is that if the Bi Girl breaks it off and happens to go out with a guy next, they think oh.. She was fucking with me, broke my heart and really just wanted to be in a hetero-relationship. NOT. Ever though maybe she just wasn't that into you? Would it make lesbians feel better if Bi women dated another women after the breakup, so they know the gender wasn't the reason? But then if that relationship doesn't work, she should probably date another women to make that ex feel better too? When does she get to experience her bisexuality? Bisexuality is about being attracted to both genders, but also about finding the right soul to be with, whether that be male or female. We have so much love to give...So much so that gender isn't even an issue; cause at the end of the day, aren't we all just trying to find love?

This just made me feel so hopeful and comforted :) As a bisexual I often feel like I have to tiptoe around certain things and it was just such a relief to hear you guys talk so openly about issues that are always running through my head but that I never feel comfortable enough to say out loud. Especially the idea about how when you choose one person (whichever gender they may be) that's you choosing not only one person, but one gender (potentially) forever. And it really is scary. I also completely agree with Rose at the end (what am I saying, I agree with her for the entire video) that I can't understand why two people being in love hurts someone else. Why can't everyone just be happy? I really do think the world is getting closer and closer to that every day. I've been watching your videos since you had just moved in together and I cannot explain how much of an impact you've had on me. Love this series Rosie, and love you both :) Don't know if anyone will actually read this monster of a comment, but if you do, I'm sending hugs from Canada

Thanks a lot Rosie for these videos and putting yourself out there. As a bisexual I didn't grew up with any kind of real "role model" so I think your Bisexy Series are very important for the community. I found Rose's point really interesting when she said you guys decided to be in a serious relationship you had to give up your single life but also men and "the struggle" from that. Thanks for your honesty and can't wait to watch the next episode =)

"Just because you don't understand something, doesn't mean it is bad". Amen Rose. I loved tat whole rant at the end haha. I honestly believe that education is the key to breaking down stigma and breaking down stereotypes and everything that you guys talked about. I will never understand either how being in-love could be offensive. As a bisexual women as well, I feel like on regards to the 50/50 split, I feel like it goes on a spectrum and it's constantly changing. Like, for me, personally, I feel like there are times in my life where I am or attractive to women and there are other times in my life where I am or attracted to men and then there are times where it's more even. Even with people who are heterosexual, there are times when they're super attracted to the opposite sex and then there are times that they're not. Also! I feel like when I have dated women, I tend to be more attracted to women because I was 'in that mindset' like you said. And vice versa. I can't wait for more from you lovely human beings, xx.

@vidishajha47378 жыл бұрын
abuks11 thanks! I'm American, but my parents are from India so that's where my name comes from. The difference between bisexuality and pansexuality is usually a matter of definition. Bisexuality can be defined in two ways: attracted to two or more genders, or attracted to genders like and unlike your own. Which definition applies is entirely up to you. Pansexuality is an attraction to either people of all genders or regardless of gender. Again, the definition varies person to person. There are lots of resources online if you have any other questions, or if you want a better explanation 😊

My favourite saying in regards to issues like this is that.. in the age of information, ignorance is a choice. Also people are so quick to judge and be negative towards you, but often I find those types of people are that way because they are struggling with that particular issue themselves and are not comfortable enough to face it head on..so therefore then take that out on the people that are able to.

Rose's comment about love at the end really hit home with me. I'll never understand how people can hate someone so much because they aren't dating who that person thinks they should date. The world is already full of hate and wars over stupid things. Love is so precious and so so beautiful, it's literally the only thing keeping this world together. Everyone strives for it, that's the entire goal of someone's life, to find love and grow old with that person so you don't have to be alone. Nobody should have the right to make people feel ashamed for loving, I think if people really took just a few seconds before they spoke to imagine being in someone's shoes, the whole world would be literally so much better, and isn't that what we all want?

Rosie I feel you on the fear about choosing one person. I feel like because it was so difficult to prove our legitimacy and ability to stay faithful that we are now scared to talk about our fear of commitment. With the way I present myself I always thought I'd end up with a girl but I'm now in a long term relationship w a cis man. It makes you take a step back and reevaluate yourself. And honestly I'm worried I'd hurt the other person if I'm not actually ready to commit so I was thinking about this a lot. I'm so glad to see other people with the same issues and talking about it I want us to be able to explore sensitive issues like this openly. So thank you Rosie for being unafraid to open up controversial topics.

It’s crazy.... Seeing Rose talk passionately in a non jokster manner. Her voice wasn’t light or smiley like normal. I was truly intrigued. Replaying the video, almost studying it.

Bless you Rose for understanding Rosie's struggles with commitment going beyond just one person forever and into one gender forever without even being bisexual. It is so hard to explain that to people who aren't in the middle of the spectrum without bringing about a wealth of insecurity. As absolutely irritating I would get being interrupted all the time, Rosie is lucky to have your understanding hahah

I find your love pretty inspiring in the sense that you two deeply care for each other and it shows. Love is love and it is beautiful. I agree with Rose at the end 100%.

"Why is that a problem? Why would it ever be a problem?" It's the simplest and at same time the wisest question about whole sexuality and love thing! When I was in primary school and little did I know that I was gay back then , I always thought that way. Like, how can two people in love be a bad thing? As long as you don't hurt anybody you don't do anything wrong. And moreover, why would it even be considered as a bad thing? How love can ever be wrong? It was actually one of my favourite videos of yours 💝💖 I would love to talk even more about it with You or at least have someone to talk with about this issue 😏

My Brother is Gay, and of a generation that was much less accepting, he went through hell as a kid, he was regularly beaten and even stabbed once.. then as he got older lost jobs, just for being gay.. we're both a lot older now, he's 50 and because of the hell he went through when he was younger he could never officially bring himself to come out to those closest to him.. I know this is supposed to be your bisexy series, but I just wanted to say thank you. The more people like Rose and Rosie there are in the world the more accepting a place it becomes.. eventually we'll be at a place where it won't matter who you love.. there's still a way to go.. but things are so much better now.. love you ladies you are both awesome!!

I'm 18, bi, my home friends know, my uni friends don't. I never came out, it was just a; 'oh you like girls and guys, cool' kind of thing at home. Here, I can't imagine it being any different and I'm thanking for that.
@RegencieX8 жыл бұрын
M & Sonoran you never know if you don't try. So what if those people shun you, uni is so huge you can find people who support you. (Also bi but I'm 17)
@meganb60548 жыл бұрын
I get that, I'm not shunning anyone, they support me wholly, but there's no need to tell them. I know they'd be fine with it because it's no different for me and them whether one of us dated a guy or girl.

Rose, your speech on homophobia and love deserves to be broadcasted on TV. You make the stupidity of homophobia so obvious. Please keep up the good work ! :)
@anahonorio91208 жыл бұрын
Thank you, Rose! I don't usually comment on the videos but felt the need to do it on this one. I'm brazilian (from a region where people are not so accepting) and recently, in a family bbc, I spoke my mind against homophobia and how it doesn't make sense. My thoughts are Rose's exactly! In a world so cruel, so cold, so uncaring...we shouldn't simple "tolerate" homosexuals, we should celebrate love wherever it appears. Safe to assume my uncles didn't agree. I got a little upset that, in my own family, I couldn't convince people of something that is so clear in my mind. Nevertheless, It felt amazing to hear Rose speak at the end of the video, it made me feel a little less alone and more confident on the world's potential to grow, and become a more loving and accepting place. Thanks again, girls!

100% agree with the speech you made Rose, i will never ever understand how 2 people (regardless of there gender) being in love can ever be a problem! love is so beautiful and so pure and if 2 people are happy i don't see why other people should have a negative opnion on that! just let those 2 people be happy

Rose was so on point at the end there. I completely 100% agree. I cannot fathom the way people can be so hurtful when love has no color, size, gender etc. Love is a force that surpasses all of those things.

So much love for you both {MOMS} ❤️. It makes me really happy, emotional even, to see how you two have grown in the last couple of years. And to know that you've helped so many people grow as well, including me. I cannot put in words how much you changed my life, and I am so glad that you are still strong and gay (happy). Ps. my girlfriend is also bisexual and I honestly have no problem with it, I'm more jealous of girls than I am of boys tbh, haha, they're dangerous...

There's really no differences in relationships between men and women, men and men and women and women, we all have insecurities and doubts about the other. It's just being human. I get there are some obvious differences lmao! But when it really comes down to it we are all the same
@crystalbeth14005 жыл бұрын
Danielle Boydon i know this was two years ago, sorry! Especially as this will be long and boring 😂 I just wanted to say I agree and disagree with your statement. Totally agree that we all have insecurities, but bi erasure and judgement has always been a part of my life. Men thinking it’s ok if you cheat with a woman, cos it’s hot - basically dismissing it. I have had lesbians straight up exclude me and spread rumours about me from literally nothing just because I’m openly bisexual. After dating a woman who by the way REALLY hurt me, I told her I wanted to take it slow because I had left where we were living at uni, and because she was so pissed about it she tracked down my best friend and slept with her to spite me and ruin our friendship. My friend didn’t know i was seeing her at all due to the distance, lack of things like Instagram at the time and that she’d given a fake name, and when she found out she immediately told me and was in absolute bits, literally never seen my friend so devastated. So naturally I ended things. And what happened? The whole community I was part of slandered me all over Facebook saying I deserved it, i was messing her around obviously because I’m bisexual. Then later when I dated a man this continued and they acted like it was ‘proof’ that you can’t trust bisexuals and it was only a phase because I was with a man. THEN when I got into a serious relationship with a woman, there were people openly doubting me, and there were others saying I was now a full lesbian for dating a woman. It can be hard to be bisexual - when you’re with a man, you’re aware you now have heterosexual privilege. That kinda makes you feel guilty and not want to speak up about the issues that you face. It’s complex. I think while you’re right in what you say, we do have to examine the issues that all sexualities experience and how it effects people’s lives. I have loved women, I have loved men. I notice that I go for the same things in a man and a woman - confidence, dominance, some sensitivity, ambition, drive, open, understanding. I have always been attracted to all genders ever since I was a little girl I knew from when I was very young and it took a while growing up to realise that most people were not like that. I have struggled even admitting it due to negative reactions and not feeling totally safe. I know this is just my experience but I guess I wanted to get it out there. Once I date a man I am kicked out of the queer community and my voice, thoughts and heart no longer matters. I am currently in an amazing relationship with a woman who understands all this and loves me for who I am, the way Rose does Rosie. I hope that biphobic people can challenge their own presumptions about bisexuals and just take the person as they are. Sorry to give you my life story!
