It's fascinating how people see whatever they want to see in this video. I have a John Wayne interview that gets the same sorta polarized reaction.

@VinnieRattolle

@@MarkDC-okiefromMuskogee Basically, it comes down to preconceived notions. If someone's sympathetic toward Tammy, they remark what a good person she was. If they think she's a phony swindler, this interview corroborates it. The same goes for Roseanne - those who like her admire her candor, those who hate her think she was being a bitch to Tammy. A year ago, many of the comments were hateful (and I probably deleted some of the more toxic remarks), but the new movie is altering public opinion, so now they're largely positive. The video remains the same, but individual takeaways from it drastically differ.

Her kindness to people with HIV, to pets and family with pediatric illness was extraordinary. I think she would tell you if you can't say something nice, keep your mouth shut. Rest in peace.

"The term 'sexual preference' is used by anti-gay activists to suggest that being gay is a choice, and therefore can be changed or 'cured.' Similarly, the term 'gay lifestyle' is used to stigmatize gay people and suggest that their lives should be viewed only through a sexual lens. Just as one would not talk about a 'straight lifestyle,' one shouldn’t talk about a 'gay lifestyle'.”

@SUGARXYLER there are tons of people called to that, TONS. Churches pay for TONS of missionaries and they do help them. I know peoplecalled to witness to bar flies. I know people called to witness to prisoners. She was called to reach out to a certain type of people too, just ones that were in a different place than extreme poverty Ministers are all called to reach out to people on their level. You know, kinda like Christ did. I appreciate how real and honest she was. She reached out to a lot of people by being who God made her to be. She still always gave him the glory. I'll take the broken honesty over the pious self righteous anyday.

Tammy was popular with many and particularly Evangelicals. Presbyterians thought they were better than her and her followers. Tammy Faye was a joke to many and tons of people looked down on her....aka Judgemental. When they got into financial ruin.....people celebrated their fall. Only later on when Tammy re married did she start to rise above criticism and be accepted for who she was....and people finally gave her a break and tried to accept her for her gifts.

I just have a soft spot for Tammy Faye. It’s something about her that seems genuine. She seemed to have a good heart. I always felt like she was convicted by the media and the public because her husband was guilty. People thought she had to be guilty too. They didn’t find any evidence of her being a part of this. May she RIP. Now Jim Bakker makes me sick to my stomach. I don’t have an ounce of sympathy for him. I can’t believe that people are still supporting his greed today! @@Xane_Dragon Tammy Faye was in the dark about all of Jim's criminal activities. She honestly thought they were prospering. Remember, a certain generation of women were taught to be dependent on men. Many were too trusting. Her only crime was being extremely gullible. And this is coming from someone (me) who couldn't stand her back when all the crap was happening. The first time I visited heritage USA I was six years old with my parents, sister and grandparents. We went again two years later. These were some of the most fondest memories of my childhood. The entire staff was so hospitable to us. They took pictures and some of the on air personalities walked us around and showed us behind the scenes. We sat in the audience for the show and Tammye was so beautiful. The rooms we stayed in were off "Main Street" when you looked out of your window, there were indoor shoppes below that looked like well, a Main Street in a town. There was a fake sky which was so beautiful, it looked like a blue sky during the day, it turned to dusk in the evening and displayed a moon and stars at night, mind you, this was like 1985/86. I had never seen something so beautiful. We watched stories in the amitheatre, took the train across the property, splashed in the water park and got goodies from the general store on the property. So many people felt defrauded by these two but to me, they lived up to the experience they promised families at PTL and beyond. I've been to Disney 3 times, twice as a kid and once as an adult and it never compared.

I love Tammy Faye and as I was growing up I could never understand the disrespect people gave her about wearing make up . I love wearing make up I agree with her 100%. If you feel better with make up go for it and you’re not wearing it for anyone but yourself. It does not matter who complements you if you don’t feel good about yourself then no one can make you feel good about yourself Wear make up.

her make up was extreme at times but it always looked great .What man doesn't like makeup on a woman ? I loved watching Tammy ,she was so honest . I miss her.

Poor Tammy Faye. She really was a positive person that was raked over the coals in the media. I think her 1st husband was slimy but she was a good and humble person that tried. I’m glad she grew to be more accepted and sorry she’s no longer with us.

You know this was a really interesting interview, because Roseanne's interviewing style was devoid of the pomp and superficiality that is prevalent in a day-time television show.

Tammy Faye's positive attitude was a gift. It really is gift because so many of us struggle daily to see the positive in hardships but with her it just seemed so effortless. I'm almost jealous. I struggle with having a more positive outlook on life. God bless you Tammy Faye. You were truly an angel on earth.
