I'm a landscaper and I've been wearing the Brunt Marin Gen 2 8" for almost a year I have zero complaints about the boots. They stay dry, all day comfort, and honestly one of the best boots I've ever worn. I beat the s*** out of boots bc of occupation but I ordered the USA Marins and they're on the way to me now as we speak.

I've had a pair of gen 2 marins since February. They're the most comfortable boots I ever wore in 20 years of doing construction. So far they're holding up fine and they've been through anything and everything as far as types of surface and temperatures. I also have the gen 1 solid black marins from last year's black friday edition. I only wear them casually so they're obviously still in superb shape.

This boot: outsole, midsole, insoles, welt , thread, waterproof lining, laces, eyelets, speed hooks, globally sourced. Upper leather, labor to build the boots USA made. The uppers are stitched together elsewhere in the USA, then they are stitching the welt to the upper in house, and gluing on the outsole. It’s as minimally produced in the USA as is allowed according to the department of labor, to be able to stitch an American flag on the boots and claim made in USA.

Brunts are very common at my job, we do asphalt construction and it's tough on boots especially the heat. The soles on brunts seem to hold up to the heat. But the soles kinda like to delaminate after being exposed to the elements and release agents we put on our boots to clean them (diesel). I use Cofras and they seem to hold up for about 2 seasons/12 months. Which is about the same luck other guys are getting with the brunts. I was wondering if you could do a paving boot showdown between the two and possibly other brands. I know redwing had a model and there is another European brand called shutz that some guys are having great luck with

I believe Thorogood clicks and lasts their boots here in the USA, but would not be surprised if brunt is really trying to get away with a lot. There are regulations regarding wording and qualified vs unqualified statements. My dad just bought a pair of direct moulded Thorogoods last month that are MADE IN THE USA WITH AMERICAN MATERIALS. That means Thorogood clicks and lasts boots here. Brunts may not get much attention and is trying to get away with more because of it, it's clear that most of the components are the same as their imports.

@roseanvil Boot breaker question: Should you condition the veg tan leather boot breakers before using them? Seems like it would be a good idea since veg tan tends to be so dry, and might help them break in faster? And perhaps it would help them be less prone to cracking and hold up better to the moisture/sweat they will endure? Anyway, guess I'm really just wondering if there is any reason why conditioning veg tan boot breakers or insoles would be a bad thing to do? Would love everyone's thoughts and feedback on this. I like BRUNT. I have the Ohman and one of their jackets. They work well for me, and that's all I can comment on. They support and sponsor PBR, and I have heard they are good to their athletes. They charge fair prices for good-quality boots and clothing. I don't need an indestructible, NW style, handmade boot, with improved durability, lengthy production times, high cost, etc..If you do, there are lots of good options. It's good to see Brunt step up on this USA boot, which generally meets Rose Anvil's high standards.

Can't wait for new tariffs to make American companies think twice about "globally sourced" components at risk of being charged more for importing them. American companies need to be shown at times to support their own for a change. The American business infrastructure will adapt to this and make for such a better market. Better for the consumer as well eventually.
