Pick up a Rose Anvil Swasey wallet, an employee favorite, here - bit.ly/3X4pwbM

I got a buffalo hide wallet for $20....$100 for a wallet seems counter productive......it's quite a simple pattern.... probably feels better to make a simple $10 wallet...like high school leather shop 🐮

Cobbler here: I haven't been doing it as long as alot of people. But, after working on several PNW brands, and receiving customer feedback, I have to disagree with the Blake stitching vs nails debate. On a new boot, nails may or may not be stronger. It's up for debate. However, nails seem to loosen and let in more water over time. Although nails are an easier fix, the Blake stitch seems to be more of a "one and done" type of construction. While nails seem to be more of a "fix as necessary" type of thing.

Question: How about for re-soling? A couple of my more recent boots are 360 hand-welted with storm welts, full leather mid-soles, and they *seem* to be the simplest, easiest to re-sole or re-welt possible.
@Jaded25035 ай бұрын
@@InGrindWeCrust2010 As long as the stitching stops at the midsole, a resole should be as easy as peel the old outsole off, slap the new one on, and do some trimming/finishing. Re doing the welt is a good bit more involved. But, you should be able to get at least a couple of resoles before new welts are necessary.
@munrocoutu68545 ай бұрын
in my opinion a nail down construction would be the easiest since the midsole is usually thicker and durable so it should be able to be restitched and resoled many more times

How does a boot this style or say a Thorogood moc toe hold up next to a pair of JK OT’s?
@InGrindWeCrust20105 ай бұрын
@@dsdiesel8667 They're all different construction. Thorogood is Goodyear welted and many of them have rubber welts. Their not quite as durable but Thorogood will replace the gemming, welt, filler, and sole for $150 or less. Origin have Blake McKay stitching, where the footbed is stitched on the inside edge all the way through the mid-sole (or in some cases, the out-sole, too). Re-soling *should* just involve peeling off the outsole and gluing a new one on. JK have stitchdown construction (of the most common types in Pacific Northwest boots) and for a re-sole, should also just need to have the outer sole peeled off, but the new sole *may* need to be glued on and stitched through the flanged upper, mid-sole, and outer sole, depending on the model. It's worth watching manufacturing videos from all 3 companies to see the differences. Personally, I think they're all good value and they are all re-solable.

Love your channel brother. For your information we(Wildland firefighters in the US) wear aramids and para-aramids. So nomex, kevlar, lyocell(semi synthetic) and modacryllic etc. However, our bags usually use cordura due to its abrasion resistance. Nylon isn't used in our PPE due to the fact it melts instead of charring while also having a lower thermal threshold when exposed to a consistent heart source.

The first time I've seen Rose Anvil complaining about the leather being TOO thick lol. Seeing the jungle boot inspired design makes me think of GoRuck boots, which take direct inspiration from the original jungle boots and is meant as a modernized and more sporty version of them. Hope to see dissection video of those.

I like my origin Coronado whisky boots, had them for 2 years, I also have the Lincoln boots, they’re cool too, like a tea core leather. I don’t see a problem with this hybrid boot, Hoffman’s boots has been using cordura canvas in their powerline boots for years, possibly the greatest line boot ever made. I see this update as a positive and I like the gusseted tongues. I’d like to see them gusseted all the way up but any gusset is better than none.

@RickN135 ай бұрын
Tried the Coronado boots last year and didn't like them. There was a squeak somewhere in the midsole from the layers rubbing together and I found a good amount of bad stitching. I like the look of the hybrid boot but not having a counter cover on the inside is a deal breaker. That fabric lining around the heel is not gonna last at all. Good to see they're using a shank in their non-work oriented stuff now though.
@turdferguson76865 ай бұрын
origin's jeans are really good if you havent tried them. a perfect amount of stretch while looking very nice. i have several pairs now and theyre the only jeans ill wear, unless its old jeans im wearing because they are likely to get destroyed while doing whatever outdoor activity. have some of their nyloc shorts which are great so far too. big fan of their stuff, none of it has disappointed in the slightest.
