What spacing did you use between lights?
@OldSoulMillennial5 ай бұрын
@@ionewingedangel1712 I think 12’, but it’s completely up to you on how you want to space and arrange the lights.

I install a fiberglass driveway marker next to every light. I have an Ariens snowblower, and this trick makes it easy to navigate around these solar lights.

nice but I'd definitely add yellow or white marking on driveway like this

First snowfall they are out of there 😂. Just like how we don’t have highway mounted lane reflectors unless they recess mount them below the surface for snow blow blades.

My concern would be water ingress. If water is sitting for a few days (heavy rains etc) wound they not short out and fail? Thanks 😊
@OldSoulMillennial Жыл бұрын
My driveway is pitched, so I never have any standing water. So far, there has been no water infiltration in any of the lights! I will likely have to replace the batteries on the 3rd year. Very satisfied.

Great Video. Quick question, how far apart did you space them? I just got some in and looking to install them this weekend?

Great video. I have the same type of driveway. How far apart did you place the lights on one side?
@OldSoulMillennial2 жыл бұрын
Thanks greg. I spaced my lights about 14' apart. If you are unsure of what distance you should space your lights, light a couple of candles along the driveway and see what you like. Of the 20 lights I ordered, one is dead. Might just be a bad rechargeable battery.

Great video! I recently saw these lights so I wanted to come on here and check out some videos. Yours was the first one I came across. Once you install the lights and then need to replace the battery will you have to completely remove the light from the driveway to add a new rechargeable battery?
@OldSoulMillennial Жыл бұрын
Good question! Yes, you will have to remove/ unmount the light in order to replace the battery. Battery should last 1-2 years.

I understand they are durable, but my question is will they stay in place when your driveway gets plowed?
@OldSoulMillennial3 жыл бұрын
Absolutely not. They may withstand a light hit from a snowblower, but a plow will rip these out of the ground or damage them. An option is just place them on the edge of the driveway without screwing them down. That way a plow would just push them into a snow bank
@hatingontruth91183 жыл бұрын
@@OldSoulMillennial An added solution to that problem is to live in a snow free state such as myself. Still, the night affect with those lights looks great.

Of the 20 I initially received, one was ripped apart by my snow blower, and 1 light is not functioning. It may just be a dead battery. But the other 18 are working flawlessly. No regrets!!

Whats the brightness like?
@OldSoulMillennial Жыл бұрын
Good for what it is. The lights are very visible in the side view mirrors of a car, but understand that they are not spot lights. They will clearly mark the edges of pavement, but won't really light up the surface of the path.

Good eye on the missing GFCI. I am going to install a string to each float. That way I can pull up on the string and test the floats. Since this happened, I also installed 3 water sensors throughout the basement and tied it into my alarm system. One sensor is deep in the sump pit. This way I'll have some notification if the sump pits are wet.

Does the plastic yellow and does it get enough charge on cloudy days?
@OldSoulMillennial3 жыл бұрын
Too soon to tell if the plastic is going to yellow. Thus far, even on low light cloudy days, they always get enough charge to come on and stay on. I think the cold winter temps and shorter days will be the big test.

The problem with solar driveway lighting is, when the lights of your vehicle hit the light, they go out. And, the batteries are about $7!!!!
@OldSoulMillennial Жыл бұрын
I haven't had the vehicle lighting issue, but big deal. If the lights go off for a second until you turn off the headlights, no big deal. How do you figure $7 bucks for batteries? Each light requires 3 AAA batteries. Here is a link to 48 Rechargeable AAA batteries for $12 on amazon. amzn.to/3pkxVsG That pack would cover 16 Lights. I still haven't replace the original batteries yet.

If you live in the woods, you need electric. Solar needs Sun.
@OldSoulMillennial2 жыл бұрын
Sun shines in the woods...... I don't live in a cave. Your comment came across a bit ignorant, but you do make a semi valid point. These lights prefer to receive direct sunlight for a few hours. But also note, they will still charge on bright cloudy days and in indirect sunlight. On the low charge days, they are usually a little bit dimmer.
