In this video, I host a "funny position" viewer tournament based on a strange position that was sent in by a viewer. Shortly, into the tournament, I realize there is a hilarious opening checkmate trap...

2:26 Did Eric and his opponent both didn't see the possible fork by Knight at g2 ?? 🤯
@CadeHXH
@CadeHXH Жыл бұрын
Yes, also looking at an engine Eric was down 12 points from that check, black then kinda messed up by taking with bishop on e2 and it spiraled from there ( he also definitely should have just saved his rook instead of letting Eric's bishop take it). Black still had an edge though, until 3:28 where he defended his knight with the pawn, Eric played the best move after which resulted in the game becoming 0-0, a draw with perfect play. Pawn e6 from black at 4:01 was a massive blunder.

Eric did say that he is in very big trouble after moving the queen and did next move capture that knight when opponent didn't see it.
@Hasan...
@Hasan... Жыл бұрын
@@KHariram Wrong... watch from 2:16 he says "I'm in big trouble" *before* he blundered his queen..! Not after blundering. He casually plays the queen into the worst place (without even saying Oh No My Queen). AND If he did anticipate the "trouble" (fork) he wouldn't be trying to pre-move taking his knight, because the knight should have forked, he should be trying to pre-move his king instead.

I wonder how the lichess performance metrics work without a loss. Winning 9/9 games ended up being a 2200 performance rating, despite beating a 2600 twice (or, I guess, once in regulation time). Strange. Also, cool position, I love how quickly opening prep entered the population.
@StrategicGamesEtc
@StrategicGamesEtc Жыл бұрын
I assume the performance ratings are just a rating pool with only the games if the arena for input, no?
@DeBert
@DeBert Жыл бұрын
It's 500 points above the average rating of your opponents at 100%. He also played 800's, averaging 1786, so that keeps the performance relatively low.
