Hey I'm Sillysnail64, good game Eric! Unfortunately I had to go switch over my laundry half-way through the game which is why I took 4 minutes on that move.

How did you get so good? Any tips? 1800 rated here
@sheawinter888612 сағат бұрын
@@Helenex0rWhile I appreciate the compliment, I wouldn't consider myself to be an expert on chess or chess improvement. My only tip would be to make sure you don't have any big holes in your opening repertoire. This doesn't mean learning a bunch of deep theory, but knowing enough to get a solid, playable position out of the opening.
@MrIslah11 сағат бұрын
@@sheawinter8886 How many opening repertoire should I memorize actually to get to that level? I mean to not get lost in the first 10 to 15 moves 😅
@esaul178 сағат бұрын
With snail being in your name I thought maybe slow play was your style!
@sheawinter88865 сағат бұрын
@@MrIslah It really depends on what you play. For example, if you play the 1. d4 mainlines like me, you barely have to memorize anything. For me, it helped to get a bunch of games in those same positions under my belt.

Consider that part of the human condition is being faced with uncertainties and worrying about their outcomes. We seek out ways to tamp down and relieve our stresses. Eric's approach is calm and collected even in a losing game, a place we all find ourselves sometimes. He explains the situation, the options, and how best to respond. I think watching these videos speaks to us more deeply than just learning chess, they soothe the psyche on a fundamental level.

that man played really, really quickly -- usually an indication of a cheater. but no, he's not cheating. i looked through his other games and he also plays really fast in those as well. i have yet to see a game where he drops below 5 min on his clock, even on losses
@lpmageman56134 сағат бұрын
His opponent also played several mistakes according to the engine. This was just a case of the time management leading to a loss

In the second game: I was surprised to see you miss the tactic where you could sack the bishop for a full queen, but instead you gave up your queen to be up the exchange.

The last opponent was definitely using stockfish
@flotto7045Сағат бұрын
The one where eric basically self destructed due to using 4 minutes to make a bad pawn move? Maybe they did, but just from the game we saw i don't think it looks like they did. Ng5 looks way more natural than axb5 which the engine said does keep a big advantage. How would stockfish straight up stay worse for half of the game and only win due to time pressure when Erics position finally implodes? Also i just checked and the guys a 2500 blitz player. So probably just underrated in rapid.
