Well, I'm a bit embarrassed my one game with you is called "Punishing Amateur Mistakes" but it was an honor to play you either way. Thanks for the opportunity and the instructional chess 😅

You make me feel ancient, Eric. Every Fischer-boom member of the USCF knows about The International Chess Congress in Cambridge Springs PA 1904. Chess Life and Review regularly reviewed games from it. It was made famous by Frank Marshall who won with a score of 11-0-4 (13 pts) vs. the likes of Emanual Lasker, Janowski, Schlechter, Chigorin, Pillsbury. I've read about it in several books including one from the venerable Fred Reinfeld.

According to wiki, there was also a tournament there in 1892. Everything else you said is correct. This is sometimes called the Pillsbury variation aka The Doughboy variation.

Was so excited for this since yesterday’s video! I decided to use it as my main response to 1.d4 since I first saw it in one of your vids a few years back and I have loved it! Even got a fun win vs an 1800 chesscom friend when he played 7 Bd3 and I won a piece after Ne4, 8 Bxe4,dxe4 9 Nd2 and Qxg5. I also think that the lines with 9. Ne5, f6 are really interesting so I was somewhat disappointed he went Nd2. Thanks for the good fun and good content!

If anyone was wondering, it was named after a tournament held in Cambridge Springs, Pennsylvania in 1904 where it was used several times. (Per Wikipedia)

Cambridge Springs is a place in Pennsylvania USA where a tournament was held in which Lasker etc. participated and this variation was played by many of the players in that tournament and hence the name.

The thing with the Bermuda Triangle is that it is created on the surface of a globe, which means it is no longer a conventional triangle, as spherical geometry is different from an euclidean one.
