I LOVE how it turned out. I'm going to go and check out that shelving unit. I have the space on either side of a closed fireplace with mantle piece that I can never seem to find the perfect storage solution for. I love the crates too! Oh, gosh. I have a set of Ivar units that my parents brought back to the U.S. from Germany before Ikea was even being sold in America - years before I was born. They're probably almost forty years old, by now, and (being made of pine) well-yellowed with age. It didn't even occur to me that they would still be selling the same system. That is so neat!

Haha the tappings not too bad (I actually find it relaxing), the sewing machine on the other hand… we both use sound cancelling headphones to drown out the noise and stay in our own zones 😊

Love how this turned out Janelle. I’m glad you were able to keep a rack of your clothes on display in your space. 10 min sewing project idea - covers for the computer monitors. You can still keep it hers and his by using colours he enjoys and blend it. Monitors get as dusty as sewing machines too. 🌸

They sure do! I’ve also seen in Japan, office workers put a dust cover over their monitors to also symbolise the end of the work day. Such a great idea Helen!

So much respect for people who have a shared work space with their SO. I love my husband to bits but I could not share a working space with him. Did it at the beginning of quarantine until I decided to sacrifice our guest bedroom and turn that into my own office. Your shelves look adorable BTW!!!

Love how the space turned out. Those baskets work perfectly with the unit. Our new home doesn’t have a pantry and I used the ivar unit in our kitchen and it really is amazing how much it fits.

Oof I bought the Ivar unit last year, but with more shelves and the heavy metal storage attachments. It was an effort to put together with two people, I'm glad you chose the lighter option! I wish we had those cupboard door options in Italy 😅

This is a very pretty makeover Janelle. The pink baskets on the wooden shelves are a lovely combination. I was recently given some old four draw filing cabinets. I painted them white and built up the inside walls of the draws. I now store fabric and wool in them. Enjoy your updated sewing space and have a good week.

Great work managing to assemble those pieces on your own! The shelving unit is perfectly sized for your current needs. It must be interesting for Matt to work when you're sewing LOL Such a lovely space without being overly 'girly' for you both to share. The sunny corner is perfect for a sitting area. The light filters so beautifully through the curtains. Personally I like them long like that especially when teamed with the puffiness of the papasan chair. Very inspiring! Thanks Janelle :-)

I've honestly never seen anyone assemble IKEA furniture with it already standing up. I am impressed. I would at least have put the bottom and highest shelf and the cross in while having it all on the ground and then stand it up and do the rest. If not put everything except for the doors together on the floor. Depending on the weight.
