I have a cottage garden in my back yard with lots of David Austin roses. The front yard is somewhat formal with a cottage garden vibe and also have David Austin roses and a few Kordes roses.

It sounds lovely. My roses have a couple more weeks before they bloom. I love what they add to a cottage garden.

Good morning from Oregon 🌲 I enjoy your videos. I had about a dozen roses. Most were David Austin roses. I like both formal and mixed with plants. I onl have three now that look awful. I had to cut them way back. The mildew from the wet and cold has almost killed them. I love all the flowers The foxglove.are really pretty.
@LemonsandLarkspur Жыл бұрын
Oh no. Luckily rose are pretty resilient to being cut back. Hopefully the weather cooperates and you get a late bloom.

I have a space in my yard where I want to put a cottage garden, I would love to incorporate some David Austin roses. My problem is I don’t know how to make a cottage garden. Lol
@LemonsandLarkspur9 ай бұрын
Cottage gardens are just a random mixture of all the flowers you love. They aren’t structured like formal gardens. Just go for it. You can always move plants around as it evolves.

Lovely roses, how do you prevent black spots on your leaves I had to remove all the leaves from roses
@LemonsandLarkspur Жыл бұрын
I haven’t had that problem. I mostly deal with rust and aphids. But so far it’s been a good year for roses.

Is your 'artichoke' a Cardoon (Cynara cardunculus) or the artichoke (Cynara scolymus). They look similar although the flowers are different with the cardoons I have seen being a smaller flower and a bit different leaf. They are often mistaken for the same plant. I have grown what I call a globe artichoke (Cynara scolymus). It develops a very large thistle type flower that you eat at bud stage. It is a vegetable. I tried one once but did not like it. It is a stunning flower and when fully developed lots of little bugs like to nestle within. I only grow them for the flowers 😄
@LemonsandLarkspur Жыл бұрын
I am not sure what type it is. I planted three last year and only this one thrived. I only like artichokes in dip so I will most likely eat one and let the rest flower.

My roses have thrips :(. Any advice on treatment ?
@LemonsandLarkspur Жыл бұрын
I haven’t had to deal with that pest problem thank goodness. I would start with a mild soapy solution sprayed on the leaves. If that doesn’t work they sell rose pest sprays.
