Rosie Hamlin, of Rosie and the Originals, gave this rare 1982 performance of "Angel Baby" and other hits, on the stairs of Gregg's Blue Dot, a popular gay bar in Hollywood at the time. She is singing live over recorded tracks.

‘Angel Baby’ alone is significant enough of that era to place this beautiful woman firmly in the Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Fame, as she should be. It was one of John Lennon’s favourite songs. 🎶🙏🏼🎶

She was born just 7 years before me. I grew up with doo wop too. She is such a beautiful woman who had love and cheer in her heart when she sang for the people. Wish we had more people like her in the world. Angel Baby is my favorite. I can play and listen to it all day long. Such a beautiful poem she wrote at 14 and made a record of it at just 15.

Rosie waa such a great singer. I wish I could have seen her in concert. She comes across as such a sweet personality and someone you could just sit down with, share conversation with. She seems so down-to-earth kind of person. RIP Rosie.

Sad that she played at this place. with no band. She was much greater than this. She should have played good size concerts with her band! John Lennon said she was the best female rock singer when the Beatles got famous.

why is she singing over her own voice???
@aeichler8 жыл бұрын
+Luis Gallardo All of the "oldies" acts in this series were performing on the steps of the bar, singing over their old records. Sometimes they could take just the music track off, but on some of the older records, it wasn't possible to completely remove the old voice.

Me imagino que en ese tiempo,no existian los backtraks o karaoke
@jeffrey3226 жыл бұрын
This is sometimes referred to as a "track act;" when a singer performs over the existing recorded track because a band is not available due to budget or other reasons.
