Rosie contracted meningitis when she was seven - here she tells her story about how meningitis has affected her life, the after-effects and the support she has received from Meningitis Now.
Rosie also talks about Meningitis Now's Believe & Achieve Programme which aims to enhance and develop the lives of young people affected by meningitis, giving them the chance to receive peer mentoring, counselling, come to work shops, go on residential weekends and lots more.

I had meningitis at 8 years old and went into a coma. I was changed after I woke up. Never got any further medical assessments or treatment, but I’d definitely say that I have a lot of after affects now that I’m an adult.

Been dealing with a twisted spinal cord since 1994 I'm a survivor from spinal meningitis it's hard I died and god wanted me back on earth I cant get back surgery it will kill me there is no chance of me surviving if I get back surgery

No offense but you do realize all types of meningitis goes through the spinal column to the meninges hince meningitis so it’s just regular old meningitis .

I had meningitis and encephalitis in my brain when I was ten I was in a coma for three months my family says I almost died it gave me brain damage and epilepsy it's not fun to deal with every day of my life so I know how you feel it can be struggling at times.

I got bacterial meningitis at 38 I've never been the same since, I stuttered and wasn't as quick as I was and suffered bad headaches for years. It totally buggered me up

I had Meningitis, Encephalitis, which was definitely not an experience I would ever want again. It was quite a painful specially for the first couple of days before I knew something was very wrong. I was in ICU for a couple days after that, which thankfully I caught it early. Somehow, with help of the Hospital and a great Immune system, I was fortunately able to return to my regular lifestyle after a couple of weeks. I do remember losing around 13 pounds in that week

How long does it take to walk again without pain ;(

A few months for sum it took 2 months for me to walk again dizziness and vertigo make it hard best of lucl to ypu hope you get better soon

It’s not rlly pain , it’s more like cramping , and your feet just felt like bricks when walking
