Beautiful tutorial!!!! Thank You! This certainly makes it much easier than weaving in all the beginning and ending yarn tails. I’m anxious to give this border technique a try!

Before you use this method, have you seen my even-easier method, where you just need to insert a chain between your edge sts and the main pattern, and work the border into that? kzbin.info/www/bejne/qISsk4idjd6Eb6M xxx

Nice envelope border. I don't like to waste yarn with too-long tails to begin with.

I followed these instructions for my Zen Cat blanket but once I washed it, the ends started popping through the border. I can't remember though if I went a size down on the hook. Would that have made the difference?
@RosinaCrochets
@RosinaCrochets 3 ай бұрын
That's strange. I have never had any ends poke through my double borders. It could be that your stitches were quite loose, or possibly the yarn you used, or even if you cut the ends too short? I almost always use acrylic yarn, and never cut my ends shorter than 1 inch xx

you could also try working rounds of dcs instead of trs (UK terms) x
@direvigour

Beautifully explained. Thank you for the tutorial. The only reason I feel uncomfortable with making mosaic blankets is all those millionssss of ends 😅. Now, I think I should give mosaic a try. Just a question, on the 2nd row of envolope border (uk half treble) first you said 5 htr but then you did 3 htr for the corner. Which one is more preferable? I m planning to make a queen size NYA infinity blanket. Thanks in advance xx
@RosinaCrochets
@RosinaCrochets 2 жыл бұрын
The number of sts you make in the corner stitch depends on the st you are using. If I was doing a round of trs, I would usually make 5 tr in the corner st, but if I was doing a round of dcs (which are half the height of trs) I would only do 3 dcs. Its a little trickier with htrs, as they are a little taller than dcs, but shorter than trs, so you will probably need to do 3 htrs on some rounds, and 5 htrs on others, to keep the corner nice and square xx

Thank you so much!!! This is really looking great on my blanket! The back is done!!! I’m wondering if it might be ok to do a front loop double crochet border in the line on the front? Or is there a reason this isn’t a good idea?
@RosinaCrochets
@RosinaCrochets 3 жыл бұрын
I don't see why you couldn't ... you might just find it a little fiddly to get your hook under the loop, and I suspect the front post sts would be quicker. By all means try it though xxx

I have a lot of Mandala yarn to make a blanket or throw. Just not sure which method to use. Your tutorial was very plain and encouraging which makes me want to try the inset pattern. Since Mandala is dk weight, do you think it will work well?
@RosinaCrochets
@RosinaCrochets 2 жыл бұрын
The weight will be absolutely fine. You will probably want to take care when selecting your contrast colour though, to make sure it isn't too similar to any of the colours in the mandala xx

Hello!! I’m having a hard time telling, when you are working the second side, it doesn’t look like you’re stitching through that yellow yarn, but underneath it. Is that correct?
@RosinaCrochets
@RosinaCrochets 2 жыл бұрын
On the second border you work around all the same sts / rows that you used on the first border. You should find your hook naturally goes below the sts previously worked.

The last photo is of my Bubbles blanket, and yes that is also an envelope border - written instructions for this design, and the plain version, are both included in the envelope border pattern available from my Ravelry store xx

Would it not be easier to trim the ends after you crochet the first round of the envelope border?
@RosinaCrochets
@RosinaCrochets 2 жыл бұрын
Personally I find that if the ends are longer when I start the border I get more tangled up, but that may just be the way I crochet. If it works for you thats fine though x

Doesn't that make the border thicker with all the ends and front and back border together?
@RosinaCrochets
@RosinaCrochets 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, an envelope or double border is thicker and heavier than a standard border, but it doesn't curl like a standard border, and really finishes a blanket beautifully x
