Melissa MF Ross was is for sure in my top 5 fav guitarists just so clean he's one of those guys doesn't need to scream a solo fast as he can just makes it nice simple but very affective

I saw Collective Soul 2X in the 1990's. Decided to see them last weekend, in Vancouver, with my daughter and told her all about the fantastic guitarist beforehand, but now you're on your own. Well, things never stay the same, especially in the music world. Ross I hope you keep making the guitars scream and weep.

Just a certain tone, style,mood,feel....can not be duplicated like his own finger prints all over C.S. previous efforts with him. Thanks for your eternal gift to the music world.

What is that device he uses to emphasize the harmonics??

Ross was NOT the soul of CS. The band moved on and made great albums without him. He fucked up by messing around with Ed's wife. Too bad, but hey ... you get what you look for.

I agree. Ross screwed up and he paid for it. Still is, since he is no longer famous and apparently playing in a crap band in dive bars. (see the vids) That doesn't detract from his musical talent though. Just a sad situation. He should have kept it in his pants. Such a heavy price to pay for a night of adultery. I've seen CS in concert and Jesse is a great contribution to the band. He's not Ross, but just as good IMO. They've made plenty of hits since he left. They don't need him back.

Everyone's entitled to their opinions and for some, including me, his soulful guitar is missed in the later stuff. Personally my CS favorites came before 1999( Maybe, Needs, In Between Us, She Said, and ironically Forgiveness)

@@ekimsnevets I agree with you but I love the Joel Kosche era material as well (and I've seen them live in both eras). After Joel was unceremoniously dumped by the band in 2013 I stopped paying attention to their newer stuff.
