It always amazes me how these poor countries have such lavish lifestyles for the people in their governments. The people are starving and dying yet the government has gold plated toilet seats and lobster.

Nigeria isn't a poor country. We are 'arguably' the richest country in Africa, on paper that is The problem we have is that the leaders are very corrupt. And it looks there will be no end to it soon. Also our 'best and most educated minds' are all leaving the country any chance they get. Infact the dream of 80% of the people in my age group that I know (early 20's) myself included, is to make a little money travel out and leave the country with it's problems.

I don't need to watch a second of this to tell you why it's happening. Large companies take roots in areas with natural resources and don't give a single job to the native people in the area. Unfortunately the oil companies have destroyed their land all for the money. They don't care that the land is destroyed. Look at the Gulf when they (BP) didn't put in a valve (to save money) and the line let go and polluted the gulf of Mexico.. Yes they paid to clean it up but after they ruined the fishing industry and destroyed many businesses in the region. All for money... Yes their government is mostly to blame for ruining the land and not sharing the profits with the people and trying to keep the area clean but again Greed

Education is bliss.. Nigeria did fail on that. In the history of that country tribe status is a big problem. The people will not team up to become one and attack their poverty status. Having oil and a corrupt government (also a tribe) does not help. This problem started when slavery was invented.. the Dutch started offering shiny things to strong tribes to rob men from an other tribe. So yes the white man did induced the way the locals think. It’s all in their history. I won’t be surprised if there is prove some horrible viruses are induced also. How to fix this .. 1 is education and 2 is force to government to listen 3 make sure every local can benefit form the oil profit. but ... you need to contain the surrounding countries not to undertake any unwanted actions. Is that possible... ?

Yesterday, the 24/11-2021 The Danish navy helped a Dutch merchant ship from being attacked by pirates. Danish navy killed 4 pirates, wounded one, took 4 as prisoners after the Danish Navy was fired upon after it placed itself between the Dutch ship and the pirates. I tried to look at Dutch and US news but could not find anything about it. The incident took place outside Nigerian coast, at the bay of Guinea, where Denmark, with an advanced fregat with air offence capabilities, protect international shipping routes from pirates.

The boats need to defend themselves. There is simply no other answer. They obviously aren't looking for violence or conflict, but that violence and conflict has clearly found them. It's not going to go away. AK47s aren't expensive in that part of the world, nor is ammo for them. Pirates that got shot at aren't very brave at all.
@spunkyspaz

Yes, this is what I don't understand. Obviously there can't be a warship escort for every single merchant ship so why not have guards or mercenaries on the merchant ships to defend from pirates? I can't imagine that cost is the issue. It is far more costly to lose ships and crew to pirates.
@foxxy2583
@foxxy2583 5 жыл бұрын
Did you watch the video? If you did you would realise that piracy isn't just effecting big merchant ships, but the little fishing boats and the oil rigs as well. If the pirates can't steal from boats they'll turn to other places, communities, etc. There isn't a solution.

All of his actions could be caused by typical meds to treat anxiety or ptsd…. Or drugs.

People are very quick to blame the oil companies for the pollution here. Oil companies operate all over the world safely every day and there are hardly any major spill incidents. The pollution in the delta comes from MEND's attacks on installations, Oil thieves breaking into pipelines to steal oil and the same thieves refining the stolen oil in the jungle.
@HorizonsleatherBlogspot2012
@HorizonsleatherBlogspot2012 2 жыл бұрын
Exactly. The people destroyed the pipelines and then cry about the environment after the fact, demanding the oil companies come back and fix things. You literally cannot make up a more pathetic scenario, but it's true. The sad thing is there are many poor people caught in the middle who have not committed a crime. It's not so much the possibility their government is corrupt, it's the fact that they've got nearly zero infrastructure to build on so they could right the situation. These people are caught in a very unfortunate and destructive cycle -and no amount of "help" will suffice because they did this to themselves and they will do it again.

FOH! Oil companies & natural gas companies ruin & pollute the environment even here in America so just image what’s being done overseas! They were polluting the environment & that’s in part where the pirating started. All the fish are dying too which directly effects the people of that region!

It's not the oil companies that cause all that pollution (although some spills are inevitable). There is no profit in that, quite the opposite. Leaking oil is mostly caused by criminals stealing from oil wells and then not properly closing them. Even if there was no oil what jeroliver stated is correct.
