There are thousands of ex infantry soldiers, who have done many many hours of this exact training. And have also did this for real on many occasions. Lots of them/us would gladly, volunteer to be re-trained. And for those that pass training and all other tests and evaluations. Many would happily join as a special armed officer, or civil defence force. It would increase the police copacity as we could even be sent out with an officer. So they can then go single handed. It would also cost very little, as pay would only be paid on duty days. Similar to TA. We know this will never happen. But it would be good if the government did something sensible for once!

I am British and I like the system. We have obviously done something right, we have very low gun deaths and police have killed a very small number of people. Part of the difference is that in Britain guns are on the most part illegal and thus criminals can’t get hold of them, ie police don’t need guns so therefore it is sensible to not equip all officers with guns. It works for us.

@YourLittleDeath4 жыл бұрын
If in Britain if guns are on the most part illegal I would think that would only stop those who are law-abiding from getting them I would imagine. The fact that they are illegal wouldn't really figure in the thinking of a criminal, assuming of course that criminals could in some way still get access to guns which may indeed be more difficult because of reduced availability on a 'black market' so to speak.

Why aren't they armed with select fire instead of semi automatic?

I think all British police officers should be armed. But at the bare minimum they should all be trained to know how to use firearms.

Have we even got enough guns to give them? Last I heard we were on our arses. I’d thought they’d be using spud guns and water bombs

Does the DS/Sgt loose the Sargent rank when joining the armed unit?
@coreywilliams14547 жыл бұрын
They would keep their rank put would be assigned to a constable position until they have the relevant experience for a supervisory role, they are also entitles to keep the "detective" part as anyone who has completed a course that entitles them to utilize it may do so no matter what unit they are in.

No, they don't.

Do these recruits join this firearms, counter terror training through the regular police? Or is it a separate police force entirely?
