No hate on PH rep but I think she just needs a bit more research 😊 i’ve watched her in almost all videos here and she keeps saying we’re almost all half spanish, american, etc. when that is not the case. We are Filipinos so we have very strong austronesian ancestry. That’s why we look much alike our southeast asian neighbors. We have more chinese ancestry (mix literature ranging from 18-20%) than spanish given that our ancestors and chinese traders have longer interactions in the past. Only a few people in the PH still have spanish roots (1-3% of Filipinos still have spanish ancestry in them according to study in Stanford). It also shows in our language (which she kept saying in other vids we have more spanish words but not really) - PH languages are heavily rooted in austronesian language like Cebuano, Tagalog, Ilocano, etc. That’s why we share more similar languages with Southeast Asian countries that also has austronesian roots vs. the Spanish language.

@@mischa6688 i do think though that Filipinos in general would have the same answer as her unfortunately. It’s challenging for Chinese and Indian individuals to explain that they are also Malaysian, as people often conflate being Malay with being Malaysian. Malaysian refers to nationality, while Malay is an ethnicity. Ethnic Chinese and Indians make up approximately 20% and 7% of the population, respectively, with Malays constituting about 60%. Thus, Malaysia is a diverse country with people of varying appearances. Malays typically have tan skin and wavy hair, but can also resemble Chinese, Indian, or something in between due to the wide range of looks within the community. Intermarriages between Chinese and Indian populations are common, and their children often look Malay, leading to frequent misidentification. Personally, as a Malay, I’ve been mistaken for Bangladeshi and other South Asian ethnicities, despite being 100% Malay. This diversity stems from a mix of Austronesian and Australoid influences, contributing to the rich cultural tapestry of Malaysia.

Instead of saying half chinese, half spanish etc,. What a Coincidence. Watch these moment carefully: 11:50 & 18:15 Two intelligent girls identifying each other's nationality. The Mongolian girl identify her nationality when the Bangladeshi girl talked about their stereotypes. Where everyone thought he was Indian or Sri Lankan. And when everyone thought the Mongolian girl was Singaporean, the Bangladeshi alone thought she was from the mountains. The Bangladeshi girl first said she was Nepali and she even said Kazakhstani. But after explaining a bit more, the Bangladeshi girl said she is Mongolian and then everyone is surprised.

Absolutely fun to watch, this video! It's so refreshing to find content involving natives from their own respective language and culture. Speaking of learning, if anyone's interested in diving deeper into Thai, I've been using apps like Ling and Pocket Thai Master to expand my knowledge. They've been incredibly helpful in making learning accessible and fun. I'm also learning the Burmese language by using the same app - Ling as well since they also offer really compact Burmese lessons. Anyways, keep up the great work with these videos - Love from UK!

I thought the same. He’s what considered a good-looking guy in the western part of Indonesia, so I wouldn't have guessed that he was half Dutch. The only clue is that his face looked red from sun exposure in this video, but that could also happen to fair-skinned indigenous Indonesians. Maybe Indonesian genes are generally more dominant 😁 Although if someone has strong Caucasian features like actors Ciccio Manassero or Dylan Carr, it would be obvious that he was a halfie.

Wow, I really love that we got an Indonesian guy this time around after watching all the Indonesian girls on this channel! 👏 He has the typical west Indonesian aesthetic: he looked sharp with his rounded eyes, double eyelids, and sun-kissed skin. _Gantengnya khas Indonesia bagian barat!_ 👍 Although yes, his fashion looks more Japanese or Korean, I guess because he lives there in South Korea. If you dress like that in Indonesia you would die from overheating 🤣 He shouldn't have doubted his Filipino guess because we Austronesian brethren should be able to recognize each other 😁 I wish you hadn't put the flags over their heads, though. I tried so hard not to look at them because I wanted to play along! 😭 Apart from Japan which I have seen on the channel before, I managed to guess Mongolia, Myanmar, and Malaysia based on their clues. I was also able to guess India, South Korea and the Philippines based on their accents. I found the clues from China and Bangladesh weren't very useful 😂
